Looks like your "MWT" software reverted the edits I made to the Tom Leykis entry, claiming I was 'vandalizing' the page. If you take a look at the edit history, you'll see that I actually cleaned up the page by combining similar sections and rewriting awkward prose. I object to your use of automated software to claim that I was 'vandalizing' the page. Your software must be pretty stupid and unreliable. I also object to Wikipedia allowing automated software to undo legitimate edits without human review.

I'm interested in finding out your arguements about Marijuana legalisation. If I'm not mistaken, you support the use of Marijuana? I'd like to find out why, exactly. --Sumo Sniper 05:06, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is no reason for Cannabis being classified as an illegal drug. Those that advocate prohibition tend to use "Junk science" in their reasoning. Physiologically, Cannabis is much safer than ethanol beverages. There is no practical risk of overdose, it does not impair judgement like alcohol does and it doesn't make people rowdy. I remember reading somewhere that up to 40% of crimes are committed under the influence of Alcohol. I am doubtful that many of those under the influence of Cannabis could even be bothered to commit a crime. I strongly suggest that you read this FAQ; http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_faq1.shtml --Jaymo 15:56, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of stub tag on Cro-Magnon man

I see you removed the stub tag from Cro-Magnon man. I believe this article meets the definition, as it has very little coverage of the subject. Could you please explain your removal a little more deeply than "rm stub"? :) // Pathoschild (admin / talk) 07:30, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Marijuana Wiki

Hi there,

I see that you are a pro-Cannabis Wikipedian so I hope this will be of some interest to you.

I've started a Marijuana wiki (aka The Sticky Wiki) which I think you might be interested in. I'm hoping you can help me get started with this project. Whereas lots of articles about weed get speedy-deleted on Wikipedia, they would be totally cool over at MarijuanaWiki. But really I want the site to be more of a marijuana community than merely an encyclopedia.

To give you an example, I want to have city guides about where to score, find pot-friendly cafes, marijuana events, and what represents a good price in that city. Etc. (You can check out the featured article: "Toronto" to see what I mean). I also want to have grow diaries and marijuana blogs. All in all, basically more communal than encyclopedic.

I am in need of admins/moderators, and people experienced with MediaWiki to help build policy, categories, and templates, etc. If you'd be interested in helping me with this project, the URL is MarijuanaWiki

Thanks for your time and consideration. Hope to see you there!

Thanks for uploading Image:30-degree-rule.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 22:57, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A few comments on your signature

First, I clicked on your signature to go to your user page and it lead me to User:Black Velvet instead of User:Black-Velvet. In fact the account User:Black Velvet doesn't exist yet, I made it redirect here so people don't get confused as to where your userpage is.

Something else about your sig. Please, could you not use the font size 4 in your signature. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll bold it for you:

This is your current signature:

<font face="Rage Italic" size="4" color="black">[[User:Black Velvet|Black-Velvet]]</font>

Please alter your signature so it produces a littler font please. Maybe a size 2? And please change the link in which it goes to from Black Velvet to Black-Velvet. Thank you! — The King of Kings 23:46 June 30 '06

License tagging for Image:Wiki-image.mpl plaster.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Wiki-image.mpl plaster.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Why Switzerland?

Hi. No, nothing to do with their financial position. I like the way they decentralize power to the cantons and let the people decide issues for themselves in referenda. Actually, I intended to revert those three edits as well. They simply removed the parenthetical SI measurements from the geography section, which doesn't accomplish anything useful and is kind of discourteous to users who aren't familiar with US Standard.

Alaibot tagging malformed disambigs

The basic problem here is that these all lack {{disambig}}, or any related template, and hence are uncategorised. Since it seems unlikely to be practicable to have a bot reliably tag these as disambiguation pages (and I'd be getting a lot more complaints if I were doing so unreliably), these are going to end up "clogging up", if not Category:Stubs, then either Category:Category needed or special:uncategorisedpages, until a human editor looks at them at some point and determines that a disambig really is what they're intended to be, as opposed to an actual article, since the distinction can be pretty murky. What I may do for now is have the bot skip the most common phrases used in disambigs on the "stub" run, which will mean it'll instead get picked up on the "uncategorised" pass (where it'll get dealt with a lot less promptly, I imagine, and may also get the occasional complaint). If you have any specific suggestions, I'm all ears. Alai 02:51, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:5CardStud.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:5CardStud.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 04:45, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:5CardStud.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:5CardStud.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:45, 26 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 04:45, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:TheGreenBerets.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:TheGreenBerets.jpg. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Bäckefors, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Dals Långed. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 05:14, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quick Note

I see you recently accepted this edit to Rules of chess which is actually obvious vandalism (the board shows the White King being checkmated, the vandalism says Black was checkmated and White wins). This in turn generated this discussion, and some input might be handy here.

I do not know your level of understanding of the game of chess and do not imply anything such here, but more care needs to be taken in reviewing edits. If something is not obvious spam (i.e. "Black has just checkmated the White homo" or "White sucks here"), then carefully review the spot in the article where the edit is below and see if it makes sense. In many cases, copying the difference text and doing a find in the article takes you right there, then you can see it was obvious spam. =)

It's been corrected now, just take care in the future. I'm going now for lunch, TTYL. =) CycloneGU (talk) 17:02, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On review, it appears during some research that you clicked Accept, I'm guessing just to submit the comment, and that the edit was thus also accepted. If you disagree with an edit when reviewing, please use the Undo button and use your comment in the edit summary after the undid edit part. And no worries, I was confused first, too. =) CycloneGU (talk) 21:52, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Robert s abbott.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Robert s abbott.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 01:22, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Barry X Ball requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. noq (talk) 14:55, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:Velvetine.jpg listed for deletion

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Velvetine.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Hi. When you recently edited Gregorio De Ferrari, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Frontispiece (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File permission problem with File:Elena Delle Donne with egg.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Elena Delle Donne with egg.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:12, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Elena Delle Donne with egg.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Elena Delle Donne with egg.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:40, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Elena Delle Donne with egg.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Elena Delle Donne with egg.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:40, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tables for lists of books

Hi there, I see you've recently added tables to house lists of books on pages about authors. The use of tables is a well-established convention for films, but it hasn't been usual for lists of books by a single author - and I'm not convinced it is an improvement. Do you know if there's been any general discussion or attempt to get consensus on this? Dsp13 (talk)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Stylonema, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Filament. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Orphaned non-free image File:1951 Lady Paname.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:1951 Lady Paname.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:02, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your Signature

Hello, I came across your signature this evening due to two tracked syntax problems with it. It utilizes the obsolete <font> tag which is not HTML5 compliant, and due to font color surrounding the userpage link instead of being within the link, your name is not displaying your specified color on most browsers and is defaulting to normal link blue. This is called a tidy font error.

If you would, please update your signature. The following is the error-free HTML5 equivalent to your current signature:
[[User:Black-Velvet|<span style="font-family:Rage Italic; font-size:medium; color:black">Black-Velvet</span>]]
which displays as Black-Velvet

Please and thank you. Best wishes, Zinnober9 (talk) Zinnober9 (talk) 02:47, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
