Civil tone in edit summaries

Hi Arkhandar,

Beside the actual discussion (I think restarting the discussion from a year ago at Template talk:Nintendo developers#Recent edits would be a good idea), I'd like to point out that an edit summary like this borders on uncivil behaviour. Please assume good faith, instead of saying "In doubt, pick up a dictionary instead of reverting edits". soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 08:14, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

And like Sergecross73 reminded you of two weeks ago, we try to follow WP:BRD. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 08:22, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Soetermans: As for WP:BRD, it's not mandatory. And seeing as that template has a low edit cadence, the fact that there were other edits after mine, and seeing as the change was done over two weeks ago, I don't see why I should be the one creating a discussion on it, especially considering the objections given on the edit summaries were not valid at all. ~ Arkhandar (message me) 14:27, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Soetermans: Hi! My recommendation in that edit summary is just that, a recommendation and a piece of advice. As you can see in the version history, Dissident93 (talk · contribs) insisted on the fact that the word "publishees" does not exist, and that the "affiliated" concept (in relation to companies) does not entail a minority stock ownership - which is incorrect. Seeing as they would revert an edit and make a rhetoric question in the summary (which is not the first time this has happened with this user), instead of making a quick search and confirm whether or not they were right (or even start a discussion for the matter), I left out that message in my summary, which was not supposed to be interpreted as uncivil. I'd like you both to assume good faith on my part as well. ~ Arkhandar (message me) 14:25, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought up the actual discussion, my main point is your tone. The history does not read like a civil discussion to me. Dissident93 asks here "I don't know why this was changed in the first place, is "publishees" even a real word?" That doesn't come close to insisting the word doesn't exist. I think the main reason for reverting your edits back, is the bit "companies published third-party games all the time", and not about the existence or nonexistence of a particular word. Maybe they should've started (or restarted) a discussion earlier, but that doesn't change the fact that "In doubt, pick up a dictionary instead of reverting edits" comes off, at least to me, as a remark that borders uncivil behaviour. Do what you want with my advice. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 15:09, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Soetermans: I see. I admit that I was a bit rushed due to past behavior from Dissident93 (talk · contribs). I understand that it can be interpreted as uncivil. Thanks for the heads up! ~ Arkhandar (message me) 15:24, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Even disregarding that, I still don't see why we should be listing non-divisions/subsidiaries in a navbox called "Nintendo developers". Simply having a game published by Nintendo allows them to be added, which clutters the navbox and is outside of the scope anyway. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:51, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Dissident93: I've started a discussion at Template talk:Nintendo developers. ~ Arkhandar (message me) 22:01, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Nintendo - 1950.png

Thank you for uploading File:Nintendo - 1950.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

European company

A company can be a Societas Europa and still he headquartered/primarily based in one country. The SE structure is simply a legal entity type, just like within Netherlands BV and NV or in Germany GmbH and AG are legal entity types. I don’t disagree with you that SE are European companies, but it’s not mutually exclusive to being a German/other company and most are both. E.g Amazon is an American company that also has European headquarters in Belgium and Luxembourg under various legal entities. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 17:08, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Shushugah: Societas Europaea defines the legal structure of the company - it's the company itself, not "simply a legal entity type". So, while a SE can be headquartered in any European city (beloging to any European country), it's still a SE, and therefore a European multinational corporation. That doesn't eliminate the fact that it's predecessor (when there's any), can be a national corportation (German, French, etc.). Moreover, while I do understand the Amazon example, the same rules are being applied here - Amazon's parent/HQ company is Amazon Inc., an American legal entity - therefore, Amazon is an American multinational corporation, regardless of its local subsidiaries. ~ Arkhandar (message me) 17:18, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Broken tables in Intel CPU lists

Hi, I recently noticed that in the lists of Intel CPUs, some articles have broken tables: List of Intel Xeon processors (P6-based), while others are fine: List of Intel Xeon processors (Core-based). Some columns are missing, maybe due to the sSpec lines malfunctioning. I see some broken bits in a few tables, but after quite a bit of poking around and testing, I still can't nail down what's wrong. I see that you've been editing Template:Cpulist, do you have any thoughts on whether your changes could have caused the breakage? DraugTheWhopper (talk) 18:17, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Intel Core

Hello Arkhandar!

I wanted to let you know that I have finished copying all of the tables from List of Core 2, i3, i5, i7, i9 processors articles into the List of Intel Core processors article.

In doing so, I ran into a major problem: the post-expand include size limit has been exceeded, halfway through the copying of the tables. The result of this is that every single table and template from the "Penryn", "Penryn-3M" (standard-voltage, 45 nm) section onwards is not rendering or working properly.

As of now I have finished going through every desktop processors table and fixing up any issues that occurred from merging the i3, i5, i7, i9 tables all together.

On the Intel Core talk page, I have created a new sub-section under the merge proposal, called "Article size problem, proposal to split up again?", detailing what are the possible options forward since we have greatly exceeded the PEIS limit. Input from you on this would be greatly appreciated!

I'm also considering re-designing the tables to use normal wikitables instead of Cpulist templates, in a style similar to List of AMD Ryzen processors, and the tables on Rocket Lake. By that I mean merged cells of same information, no sSpec / part numbers, no "header rows", info common to all CPUs (e.g. socket) at top instead of in the table. — AP 499D25 (talk) 10:49, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
