Trigger Happy

Dear Administrator: I, like you, am an editor; I create articles and make edits. But, many, I am sure many other people out there, are tired, frustrated and angry with the behavior of many Administrators. I am certain that it is appallingly easy to revert and article, that someone has undoubtedly spent allot of time and effort writing. I have, in the past spent hours, researching, planning, writing, checking and revising an addition to an article only to have the whole lot deleted forever three minutes afterwards.

I know that deletion of material is essential in a free-to-edit encyclopedia, but if you see an article that someone has anonymously devoted their time to writing, why could you not revise it, change it or give a reason for you action? They deserve one.

I know all Administrators are not all Drunk-With- Power-Trigger-Happy-Nazis, many of you do an excellent job and you know who you are. The world owes you. I owe You.

In closing: Create, don’t Destroy. Make a distinction between “what is right, and what is easy”. Be enriched and enrich others with the knowledge of other people.

And keep that finger off the trigger.

Hi Alhutch,

Hi Alhutch,

Am I supposed to send you messages here or by posting to the end of Jan-April 2006? Anyway, please move this if it's wrong.

I wrote an article on Wikipedia that Karl Haqlund at DCR corrected. I guess that's NPV (Very new at this). Thought maybe you'd like to know about the article. I don't feel at ease just cutting & pasting onto this site - because maybe you don't want that. Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hositt. Probably best to reach me at my *coughs* email address: */coughs* (mainly because I'm such a newbie).

gun, jumped, face, egg

Sorry for jumping the gun (and the shark) on User: General Veers.... Apparently his mistake in reverting to the wrong version of Scientology was compounded by another editor's beating him to correcting the vandalism, making it appear in the history as if he was the one originally inserting the comment. When I saw he was editing pages at an alarmingly quick rate, I jumped to the wrong conclusion and blew the whistle before checking his edits. wikipediatrix 17:43, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, many thanks for your help on Solar eclipse. My attempt to revert messed up because several other edits were made meantime. How am I supposed to do reversions safely on a page where edits are coming in so fast? Or is it better to leave it to admins who can use rollback? Arbitrary username 20:02, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Global Warming

Why is it that I cannot change the global warming article to state that it is a theory. Is this your attempt at using a wiki article to promote your personal environmental views? I'd like to remind you that wikipedia is not a tool for people's personal political agendas.

repeat Vandal

Hi Alhutch,

Not sure quite where to put this report, so I'm passing it to you as you've previously been involved with vandalism by this User. User 217.23.231.70 was temporarily blocked for vandalism by you on 19th December 2005. I've just reverted 4 blatant acts of vandalism made by this user on the Kelsey Grammer article, and another user previously had to revert some more subtle changes (changing dates, ages, etc.) on the same page. Being relatively new to Wikipedia, I'm not sure where this should be passed as this person clearly an ongoing and persistent vandal.

Many Thanks, Chris --Chrisd87 10:22, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox Wars

Hello Alhutch,
I just read this on your user page: "I wonder if you might consider simply removing your political/religious/etc. userboxes and asking others to do the same. This seems to me to be the best way to quickly and easily end the userbox wars." As a great fan of userboxes (see here) I would appreciate information regarding the "war".
-- Greetings, Dudenfreund 08:17, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i think the "wars" over userboxes have sort of died down now, thankfully. there were a lot of disagreements about them, but i believe people have sort of just learned to live with them now. feel free to use all the userboxes you want. i was going to remove that notice from my user page, but i found that it messes up the layout, so it's still there. see you around the wiki, --Alhutch 17:58, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thanks :o) Another question: I tried to create an english version of this template, but I am unable to use the picture from the Wikimedia Commons. The reason is a file with the same name that is uploaded only in wiki-en. I don't have any experience with uploading, renaming or moving pictures, what do I have to do?

Ouagadougou Infobox

Hi, I decided to work on copyediting the Ouagadougou article and I feel like it would really benefit from an info box. However, much of the information I would put in the infobox is missing from the article. Since you mentioned on Talk:Ouagadougou that you used to live there, I was hoping you could help me find the information to fill out the infobox.

Thank you for any help you can give me.--Dekkanar 17:06, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mitt Romney

Alhutch,

I saw that you have edited this page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitt_Romney

This page is the #2 site that comes up when doing a "Mitt Romney" google. In my opinion, it is better than any other Mitt Romney article. However, it is not very comprehensive. I'm trying to make something more like a Mitt Romney book, instead of a Mitt Romney Article. The website is here:

http://myclob.pbwiki.com/

I examine many additional topics, but I want more perspectives than just my own. I would like you to help contribute, if you would like. Just e-mail me at: mike.laub@gmail.com, and I will give you the password!

Until we get more people working on it, I would like to keep the password a secret. I do not have enough time to correct graffiti.

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.

Notice of change

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
