RFA

I give you kudos for putting up an RFA, although it may fall under harsh critiscm. Have you thought about joining some of the Wikipedia projects however? I do not know if you are into biographies, but the WP Biography Project may be a good place to start. We are having a Summer Assessment Drive which you are more than welcome to join in on. Simply we will be assessing articles that have had the {WPBiography} template placed on their talk page but recieved no assessment. While doing that - what I suggest doing, and I try to make a habit of it as often as I can focus on it - is to help advance the article itself but tagging to be {expand}(ed) or if it contains no references to tag it for {references} and create a references section and adding the {reflist} template (so when references are added in the future they will automatically generate there). Being a part of a Wikipedia project helps to broaden your experience on Wikipedia while giving you a great insight to a lot of the policies, procedures, etc. Also, check out WP:AFD and peruse some of the discussion there to get an idea on how Articles for Deletion work or some of the WPPolicies and how they are implemented and adhered to. If you need help with anything or have a question, drop me a note. --Ozgod 03:30, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I second this as well. I wish to give you kudos as well Matt, and I hope you become much more involved. There are plenty of people around here who could easily help you get more acquainted. Perhaps you should look at adoption, as it can help you learn quickly. I never chose that path, and, as such, took much longer than I would now have liked to get experienced. I wish you luck though bud! Jmlk17 04:13, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent RfA

I'm sorry, but I've closed your Request for adminship prematurely. Simply put, you've only got 285 edits on Wikipedia; while edit count isn't the only determining factor, and numerous people have their own personal standards that the judge RfA candidates by, there was no chance that the RfA was going to pass.

I'm sorry about this, and hope you don't take it personally. If you continue to contribute to the project in a positive fashion, I'm confident that you could possibly run a successful RfA in the future. You may want to consider submitting yourself to Wikipedia:Editor review for feedback on where to get some good experience, and when you're ready for RfA again, there's a great Wikipedia:Admin coaching program.

If you have any other questions about becoming an administrator, please don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck! EVula // talk // // 14:36, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What I do on WPBiography

I routinely help out with the Assessment Drives - Psychless just launched the Summer Assessment Drive which will be running from June through August. My main purpose there is to be going through the Unassessed articles that have been tagged with the {WPBiography} template and giving them an Wikipedia:WikiProject_Biography/Assessment assessment. I will also help out handing out Barnstars once the drive is over for users who have contributed to the drive based on certain criteria.

This is not necessarily where you have to start - there are a multitudinous amount of Projects out there that you can get involved and began immersing yourself in Wikipedia with. --Ozgod 01:09, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

Hey there. I saw your name on the list of users seeking adoption, and I remember your RfA, I'd like to add myself to the chorus of people above who think that you should be given kudos for going for it! You've been doing good work so far and seem to be progressing really well since the RfA. If you're still interested in adoption I'd be up for taking you on, so have a look at my user space and see what you think. Either way feel free to ask me any kinds of questions on my talk page at any time, and keep up the good work! Hope to hear from you soon, - Zeibura S. Kathau (Info | Talk) 00:54, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, cheers for the reply. Well, adoption is for helping new users find their way around the project so that they can comfortably make edits on their own, and to be honest with you, you seem to have worked out your way around the project pretty well thus far. This doesn't mean I still can't help you though; Is there anything you specifically want to learn about here, anything you want to be able to do? Anything you're working towards? - Zeibura S. Kathau (Info | Talk) 03:55, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rfa

Just dropping by to say "thank you" for supporting me in my recent my RfA. I passed the vote, and am now an admin. It will take me some getting used to with the new tools, but I thank you again for the trust. Have a good one, and, as always, happy editing! Jmlk17 05:01, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

That's me...
That's me...

Dear Mattl2001, thanks for your support in my recent RfA, it was, however, unsuccessful. I am not the type of editor to be disheartened by such a result, and have gained much experience. If you have anything to contribute by way of improvements or comments, please don’t hesitate to tell me.

I will run again. Until then, Cheers, Dfrg.msc 08:31, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Gnome Week

Gnomes, unite!
You are invited to participate in Gnome Week, a mass article cleanup drive between June 21 and June 28, 2007.
This week, backlogs will be cleared. Articles will be polished. Typos will be fixed. Bad prose will be edited. Unreferenced articles will be sourced. No article will be safe from our reach! The more people who participate, the better Wikipedia will become as a result.
I would love it if you would participate! - Zacharycrimsonwolf

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ophanimmon.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ophanimmon.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:45, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New deal for page patrollers

Hi Mattl2001,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Recent Changes Patrollers!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about technical proposals related to Recent Changes Patrol in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

  1. Adjust number of entries and days at Last unpatrolled
  2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.

Best regards, SteviethemanDelivered: 01:11, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
