Who I am and what I do
Hello! I'm Runnermonkey. I'm a 38-year-old amateur Kiwipedian, living and working in sunny New Orleans.
Wikipedia started as a unique experiment and has become an invaluable resource. I'm glad to be a part of that!
I am an inclusionist. My primary goal is to help create accurate and accessible articles by preserving and improving existing content. Simply put, content should be improved — not deleted.
I keep my edits constructive and impersonal. I aim to avoid disputes and consider the views of all contributors. I believe Wikipedia can become even better if we strive for accuracy and empathy in all that we do.
I am constantly referencing the holy Wikipedia documents we all see on arrival. They are invaluable resources for even the most experienced Wikipedians:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
In that vein, I am constantly learning. If you notice a mistake I've made or an area where I need improvement, . I would appreciate any advice or tips you may have.
What I do
I contribute as often as I can. I'm a copy-editor most of the time and I'm always watching for vandalism.
I focus on school articles. Lately I've taken an interest in town articles as well, but I haven't joined any projects yet.
Note [January, 2015]: I'm trying to become more active again on Wikipedia and I plan to focus on articles related to New Orleans as well. Right now I'm exploring some of the changes since I last committed time to Wikipedia. I'm excited to help out again.
