Hello everyone and welcome to my user page! A little history on my relationship with Wikipedia: I have used Wikipedia since probably 2003, and remember sarcastic comments on it by several people. Well those comments are less and less now, because some of the 3000+ featured articles of wikipedia would be considered of better quality than some publications in professional journals. In fact I have found wikipedia to be increasingly helpful.
I have often times admired contributing editors who spend hours to make their knowlegde available to the world. My perception of Wikipedia is that it is an organized community of volunteers that dedicate their time to improving the world by sharing information with all of those who want free access to it. As a matter of fact the amount of people who truly dedicate significant time seems to be smaller than what my first impression was. Since I deeply share this vision and I have taken advantage of the many resources of this project, and since I believe that more individuals should give back, I decided to create an account and make some contributions.
By hobby I am a runner and often a cyclist, hence my interest in the websites I listed below for other runners from the DC area like me.
