Synge
I hadn't realised he died so young. The late 1890s and 1900s modernists are endlessly fascinating to me; so serious minded, passionate, daring and rebellious. And we can see them in pictures! Any interest in a collab to bring the sourcing up to snuff? Ceoil (talk) 22:54, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, but I don't have convenient access to sources. Kablammo (talk) 23:13, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ceoil, do you have "J. M. Synge 1871—1909", Revised Edition 1989, ISBN 0-8147-3028-0? Kablammo (talk) 23:33, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- I do. What are you thinking? Ceoil (talk) 00:17, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

Renaming John Smith (USN flying ace)
WP:NCPDAB says to use a parethetical disambiguator when needing to distinguish between people with the same names. Years ago, middle names were recommended, but that changed because sources often did not use their full name so readers could not effectively find the one that they wanted to read about. Unless you know of another Navy ace named John Smith, I suggest that you revert yourself. Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 23:13, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Sturmvogel 66,Please accept my sincere apologies for affecting the fine work you did on that article. I was not aware of the current naming guideline or policy, and should have left well enough alone. I am unsure how to correct it now myself, so request that you revert or repair my edits in any way you need to, hopefully leaving a redirect from John Malcolm Smith. You might notice that I also added one sentence to the end, but forgot to add an inline citation; that content can be cited to the June 1981 People's Press article listed in the sources.Once again, my apologies for the inconvenience, and I'll leave the article alone now. Thank you and best wishes, Kablammo (talk) 18:00, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
