I'm Dave Sones, I live in Stamford, Lincolnshire and am currently heading up a pilot project to develop a Wikipedia archive for all of the important buildings and historic sites the town. Our initial pilot is targeting around fifty of the most significant buildings and sites and will be linked to a parallel project to install QR Codes which will enable visitors to link directly to the appropriate Wikipedia page for the location they are viewing. In many respects, this is a very similar development to that announced earlier in 2012 by Monmouthpedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GLAM/MonmouthpediA

The project is sponsored by Stamford Civic Society and has the support of the town council. We are currently in a communications phase, attempting to reach as many organisations and individuals in the town as possible, with a view to involving everyone with an interest. We have already engaged the active support of New College Stamford, the Town Council, Stamford Endowed Schools, and The Burghley Estate, plus a number of local historians.

Stamford is one of Britain's finest 17th/18th century stone towns and is located immediately alongside the magnificent Burghley Estate (home of the world-famous Burghley Horse Trials). The town has over 600 listed buildings and historic locations and has been the location of several major TV and film productions. As such, it is a major tourist venue within Lincolnshire and welcomes thousands of visitors each year, all of whom are seeking information about the town and its history.

The project team are currently seeking experienced Wikipedia users with an interest in the town who would be prepared to assist with generating content, providing advice and training, and contributing their ideas to the project as it develops. This is a community project and we hope to encourage all those with specialist knowledge to contribute. Schools will also be asked to participate, along with any local organisations or individuals that want to help.

If you live in or near Stamford, or have specialist knowledge of the town and its history and want to assist with the project, please post a message on my Talk page or contact me via my email link in the Toolbox section.

Thanks for the note. I'm not very familiar with Adams so I can't really comment. I look forward to seeing your material. Regards Cj1340 (talk) 14:28, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
