Maedeh Hojabri is a Iranian teenager and Instagram blogger who lives in Iran. On July 8, 2018, she was arrested after she posted videos of herself dancing.[2] At the time of her arrest, she was dancing in her bedroom dancing to Western and Iranian pop and rap music, without wearing her headscarf.[3] She was among several popular Instagram users, with more than 600,000 followers.[2] Since her arrest, she has appeared on a state television program with other detainees, where she made what activists say were forced confessions.[2]
Since her arrest, her Instagram videos were shared by hundreds of people.[2] Iranian women posted videos of themselves to protest her arrest.[3]
