Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?
I was intrigued by this topic in class and wanted to learn more about it. This article was the first one that came up when I searched "Piltdown Man," and so I pressed on it. I read the lead section and it immediately attracted my attention. Also, as I opened it, I was instantly directed to the picture in the top right corner which depicts a group portrait of the Piltdown Man being examined. Visual pictures always draw my attention and it made me even more excited to read the article. This topic is significant because it unveils a giant hoax. This discovery was believed to be the "missing link" between ape and man but after many years, this belief was debunked.

The lead section was well written though it was a bit long. It might be more effective for the readers to make it short and concise. Though, everything present in the lead is introduced throughout the article. Every paragraph in the article is relevant to the topic and it pinpoints many important ideas. There are no missing points or equity gaps in this article. The article appears to be against Dawson, as he was the perpetrator of the hoax. The article persuades the reader that he was the primary forger of the Piltdown Man and provides clear evidence to support this claim. All the facts in this article are backed up by reliable, diverse, and thorough sources. However, not all the sources are so current as some were published in the years of 2005 and 2007. There appears to be a mix of sources such as many peer reviewed ones and some news articles. Fortunately, the links that I clicked all worked. The writing of this article was clear, professional, and well organized. The article is broken down into clear sections that reflect the major points of the topic. There are no grammatical errors. The article provides many appealing images about the topic in each section. However, some of the images could have had a better caption with more details. The images adhere to Wikipedia's copyright regulations. While looking at the Talk Page, I found many interesting comments. There were conversations about false information, the arrangement of the article, and the sources of the article. The article is part of four WikiProjects and has around 7,000 daily page views. In class, we never spoke about the memorial that was made to mark the site of where the Piltdown Man was discovered which was extremely interesting to me. Overall, this article was well thought out and well-developed. It had interesting points that were expressed in great detail. It had clear and concise sections that gave us great insight on the topic. My only concerns are that the lead should be more concise, the images should have more details explanations, and the sources should be more recent.
