Usage

This template is used to cite a piece of Singapore legislation. Where a new statute or a statute that is part of the Revised Edition of the Statutes of the Republic of Singapore is concerned, the template inserts a link to the on-line version of the statute on Singapore Statutes Online, a service of the Attorney-General's Chambers of Singapore. For other statutes and subsidiary legislation, a link can be manually added.

Subsidiary legislation as issued

Subsidiary legislation that does not appear in the Revised Edition of Subsidiary Legislation of Singapore should be cited in the form in which it was issued, with either a Gazette Notification (G.N.) number or a Subsidiary Legislation (S) number.

Again, the template does not automatically create a link to Singapore Statutes Online for such subsidiary legislation, so add a link manually as described above.

Parameters

All parameters are optional unless otherwise stated.

Parameter	Description
title	The short title (SO") of the statute, e.g., "Application of English Law Act"; "Penal Code"; "Women's Charter". The title is mandatory if you wish to refer to any of the following constitutional documents or Imperial Acts. Omit the year of enactment and the Act number and/or Revised Edition year; for instance, for the Independence of Singapore Agreement 1965 (1985 Rev. Ed.), simply type "`Independence of Singapore Agreement`". Independence of Singapore Agreement 1965 (1985 Rev. Ed.). Republic of Singapore Independence Act 1965 (No. 9 of 1965, 1985 Rev. In Ed.). titlelink	The name of a Wikipedia article about the statute. Do not enclose the name in [[square brackets]].
lk	By default, the template tries to link to an online version of the statute at the Singapore Statutes Online website. However, if there is no such version, you can turn the link off by typing "`lk=off`".
Revised editions of statutes: for statutes that have been assigned a chapter number.
cap	Mandatory: the chapter number of the statute, e.g., "`7A`" for the Application of English Law Act and "`295`" for the Singapore Armed Forces Act.
ed	The year of the current revised edition of the statute, e.g., "`1994`" for the Application of English Law Act (Cap. 7A, 1994 Rev. Ed.). The current revised edition can be ascertained by visiting Singapore Statutes Online.
Statutes as enacted: for statutes that have not yet been assigned a chapter number
url	The uniform resource locator (URL) or address of the website on which an on-line version of the legislation can be found.
archiveurl	The address of the webpage on which a version of the original website has been archived using a service such as the Internet Archive Wayback Machine or WebCite, and the date of the archived version. The parameters `\|url=`, `\|archiveurl=` and `\|archivedate=` must be used together. The archive date can be in any format accepted by the template {{date}}. By default, the archive date is displayed in the format "1 January 2012". Use `\|dateformat=` to specify a different format as instructed at {{date}}.

dateformat
no	Mandatory: the Act number of the statute. For example, the Act number of the Criminal Procedure Code 2010 (No. 15 of 2010) is "`15`".
year	Mandatory: the year in which the statute was enacted.
Constitution
rep	Mandatory: The year of the reprint of the Constitution.
abbr	By default, the template displays the full name of the Constitution: "Constitution of the Republic of Singapore". To instruct the template to display the abbreviated name "Singapore Constitution", use "`abbr=on`".
Subsidiary legislation
sltype	A code representing the type of subsidiary legislation cited. N, O, R and Rg. When citing revised editions of subsidiary legislation, use `\|sltype=` with one of these codes as well as `\|cap=`, `\|no=` and `\|ed=`. If the subsidiary legislation does not have a chapter number (for example, subsidiary legislation made under the Constitution), omit `\|cap=`. GN and S. When citing subsidiary legislation that does not appear in the Revised Edition of Subsidiary Legislation of Singapore, use `\|sltype=` with either "`GN`" or "`S`" as well as `\|no=` and `\|year=`.
abbr	By default, if "`sltype=GN`" is indicated, the template sets out the citation of the subsidiary legislation as follows: "(G.N. No. 2126/2011)". To have the template spell out "Gazette Notification" in full, use "`abbr=off`".
