Template:Freeze
This template is intended for use on discussion pages. It makes a link to a history page listing a single revision of the specified page: the latest revision at the moment of substituting the template. Thus those reading the discussion can access the revision of the page the poster saw, in two clicks.
Usage
This template must be substituted, and it does not follow redirects (e.g. shortcuts). However, using a namespace alias (i.e. WP: or WT:) works. Likewise, it cannot make a working section link, but including the section of the page will not break the link.
{{subst:freeze}}
→ Template:Freeze/doc (as of now)- corresponding article page to the talk page being edited
{{subst:freeze|2=as I saw it}}
→ as I saw it- corresponding article page to the talk page being edited
{{subst:freeze|Wikipedia:Help desk}}
→ Wikipedia:Help desk (as of now){{subst:freeze|Wikipedia:Help desk|Ask a question}}
→ Ask a question
You can also use the redirect {{frz}}.
{{subst:frz}}
→ Template:Freeze/doc (as of now)- corresponding article page to the talk page being edited
{{subst:frz|2=as I saw it}}
→ as I saw it- corresponding article page to the talk page being edited
{{subst:frz|Wikipedia:Help desk}}
→ Wikipedia:Help desk (as of now){{subst:frz|Wikipedia:Help desk|Ask a question}}
→ Ask a question
Alternatively you can preview {{frz}}
, open the link in a new window, click the link on the history page produced, and copy the URL of the resulting page to the wikitext. (Or without this template, click the latest revision on the regular history page of the desired page to find the URL of the revision that is current at the time of doing this.)
