Template:Anime News Network
Anime News Network ({{{type}}}) at Anime News Network's encyclopedia
This is a template used to generate external links to Anime News Network (ANN)'s anime and manga encyclopedia. It is intended for use in the external links section of an article. Do not use this template to create citations. In fact, the Anime News Network Encyclopedia is not a reliable source because anyone can add content to it with little to no fact checking.
Instructions
- Go to animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia and search for the title/person/company you want.
- Click on the correct link to go to the ANN's page on it. Be sure you are clicking on the correct page.
- The page URL should look like http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=id, where id indicates a number.
- Add to the external links section of the associated Wikipedia article the text:
* {{Anime News Network|type|id}}
where type is the type of ANN page it is (manga, anime, company, etc.) and id is the number you have copied.
Usage
Use either:
* {{Anime News Network|type|id|title|noparen}}
* {{Anime News Network|type=type|id=id|title=title|noparen=true}}
Do not mix "field=value" and "value" formats for the parameters as it can cause some of the fields to be overwritten. The parameters are:
- type:
- anime, tv – adds (anime), URL starts with www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime
- film, movie – adds (film), URL starts with www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime
- ova, oav, ona – adds (OVA), URL starts with www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime
- company – URL starts with www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company
- people, person, name – URL starts with www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people

- any other – adds type in parentheses, URL starts with www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/manga
- id: the number following
?id=
part of the ANN URL. - title: the desired linktext if different from the Wikipedia article's title. The default is the Wikipedia article's title if left blank.
- noparen: prevents the parentheses showing the type from appearing. Any value will work, though using a value that makes sense like "noparen" or "noparen=true" is suggested. Note that this does not affect the types "people" and "company" as neither uses the parentheses.
