Native people who’s land Wheaton was built on
This history of Wheaton, Illinois is incomplete without reference to who land this town was built on. Please add a section referencing these facts. 71.201.77.70 (talk) 04:18, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
Addition of locations located outside Wheaton
@Mjc1130: You continue to edit war in order to include locations located outside city limits. This map clearly indicates that both the Arrowhead Golf Club, and Chicago Golf Club, are located outside city limits. Moreover, ZIP code boundaries (mailing address) have little relation to municipal boundaries, and are often well outside city limits. This lodge, for example, has a mailing address of Ely, Minnesota, but is located in a wooded area 13.5 miles outside the city. School boards frequently do the same, and include communities well outside city boundaries. A detailed explanation can be found here. Please revert your edit. Thank you. - Arrowhead Golf Course is run and managed by the city and they claim both Arrowhead and Chicago Golf courses as part of their town. Please stop waging war on a topic you know nothing about. I grew up here and follow golf history very closely. Mjc1130 (talk) 17:50, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I will not be removing my edit. My edit was to clarify something that was already on the page. You went in after never monitoring that page to correct something that doesn't need correcting. Mjc1130 (talk) 17:56, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Neither golf course is located within the municipality. Both are located in DuPage County, Illinois. There's nothing wrong with including both golf courses, just add them to the correct article. This is an encyclopedia, not a travel guide. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:26, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Again, I will not be removing my edit. Reach out to the city of Wheaton if you are so inclined but they claim both of them as parts of their town. They own and manage the land Arrowhead is on directly. The city proudly claims both of those pieces of land. Mjc1130 (talk) 18:33, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I have included a map above--published by the city--showing otherwise. You are welcome to include that they are city-owned, but are located outside the city, as with an airport. But stating they are part of the city is misleading. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:37, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- If you are going to go by that, then you also need to edit Cantigny Park and Golf Course because they are in the same situation. It seems you are singling out my edits in particular for what I can only guess is I am a new account, and you thought I was a bot. I have noticed a trend by viewing your "talk" page that you tend to randomly and falsely take down edits and articles done by people who have loads of facts and sources to back their claims. I would suggest you do some research on a topic instead of just looking at a map to back all your claims. Mjc1130 (talk) 18:48, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

- I've put my comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline#Including locations outside the city. The article could specify they are not in incorporated Wheaton, but they don't need to be removed altogether, nor does their inclusion make this a travel guide instead of an encyclopedia. The county article does list golf courses and some other parks, but the city article can still be the appropriate place to include them with additional details. There's a balance to be found in how much detail to include about various topics at each level of subdivision, so it can be best to put it in context in one or more of them, without denying detail to places in unincorporated areas because county articles are higher-level. These golf courses clearly fit within the context of the city, even if not incorporated in it. Reywas92Talk 19:45, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Chicago Golf Club is a private club, not located in Wheaton. This isn't a travel guide. I've left a detailed comment at WikiProject Cities. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:26, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- This fight is honestly pathetic. I made a correction to an error about a fact about the course. I was not the original poster who put them in there to begin with. The club is an important part of the history of this town. You're not from this town, leave it be. Mjc1130 (talk) 22:56, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
