Not the first municipal sponsored college
According to the College of Charleston page, that honor belongs to them. What am I missing? 73.88.92.244 (talk) 02:08, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- Fixed. I revised it to say "one of the first". The sentence needs a cite at any rate. Thank you for bringing this up. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 20:05, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- I just found a source that backs up being "one of the first", mentioning the university's 1937 boast of being the first, as well as the dispute with the College of Charleston for that honor. I figured all that was too much to go into for the lead. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 08:58, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

Lots of citations are especially needed in this article. Please help if you can. I may work on some of these myself, but the overall needs are overwhelming. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 06:09, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- Also note that Louisville Cardinals football still needs a lot of work done as well. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 06:12, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
Student organizations
While I agree proper citation should be done, I object to university articles like this one not including student organizations. They are a key part of the university experience. There is no hard reason to exclude them just because they happen to be in a list format. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 21:21, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- There was an identical discussion at Talk:University of Pittsburgh#Lists of GLOs just a few weeks ago with some consensus that lists like this are not appropriate. If you think that editors would come to a different conclusion for this article, you're welcome to ask other editors for input. If you do that, I recommend just opening the discussion at WT:UNI so we're not trying to have the same discussion over and over again for hundreds of articles in their respective Talk pages. - I concur with removal of such lists. As per the UoP discussion, having some discussion about the relevance of greek life on campus where an encyclopedia should be focused, not a list for a list's sake. Nobody...and I mean nobody...out side of UoL gives two rips that Pi Beta Phi being on campus since 1925 with their Kentucky Alpha chapter. It's meaningless fluff, of no interest to anyone outside of the UoL community. Further, the actual list of such organizations and student organizations in general on university campuses is constantly in flux. We do not need a list of all the organizations on campus. Wikipedia is not a directory. --Hammersoft (talk) 22:53, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- The flux isn't any more than changes in university sports teams. In fact, it's usually far less. I disagree that a subject key to the university experience for many is "fluff", and I also disagree about who "gives two rips". Students and alumni of UofL may give "two rips". Anyone who wants to know if a fraternity/sorority they have experience with is also at UofL may give "two rips". Anyone wanting to find out about history of an organization at this institution may give "two rips". I profoundly disagree with you on this matter. Stefen Towers among the rest! - Sure, you can profoundly disagree. Doesn't really matter whether we agree or not. Reliable, secondary sources is your way forward. --Hammersoft (talk) 23:18, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- Because as everyone knows, RS never, never covers Greek life at universities. /smdh. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 23:21, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- ...which illustrates the reality that outside of the UofL community, this has no traction. --Hammersoft (talk) 23:36, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
