The arguments for deleting this article do not seem to have been thought out. Every General President of the Sunday School of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has an article in wikipedia.
Beyound this, Osguthorpe has written two books on educational issues, and also serveral articles. His work on educational development at BYU is also part of the institutions current situation.Johnpacklambert (talk) 05:08, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'd agree that the subject is now probably notable, considering that he has been appointed to his position int he LDS Church Sunday School just a matter of hours ago. However, I imagine collecting sources will be an ongoing thing over the next few weeks as sources report on this. It probably would have been better to wait for these sources so that notability could be better established immediately. Otherwise you risk the article being deleted while you're waiting for the sources to come. Good Ol’factory(talk)06:58, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As I understand criteria 5 for notability of academics The person holds or has held a named/personal chair appointment or "Distinguished Professor" appointment at a major institution of higher education and research. It appears that Osguthorpe qualifies.67.149.100.213 (talk) 00:49, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
