Who the hell is "Lamont Cranston" ("...worst dressed man of all time..."). I've done some Googling and can't find a reference outside of The Shadow's alter-ego and a rock band of that name. There is no source here and I'll remove the sentences referring to the name if someone can't give a citation. Even Googling "blackwell cranston 'worst dressed' " yields nothing. Smells of vandalism.
Mr. Blackwell is mentioned frequently in the media, but he doesn't have his own web site (that I've been able to find). I assume that he makes his 10 best-dressed and 10 worst-dressed picks, and then sends out press releases every year. This entire page shouldn't be deleted just because you can't find a reference to Lamont Cranston. Dreadpiratetif 21:50, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- I could care less about Lamont (that first comment was unsigned). My concern about notability is that the article doesn't say why people give a flying frak about what he thinks. Just cuz he's been doing it a long time? Cuz he knows people who knows people who get his stuff printed? If any of that is revealed in the external links, that should be in the article itself, as a ref. Wl219 01:03, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- OK, so follow the links and find a ref that you like. There is no point in tagging it and then waiting for someone else to do the work. If you think that it is truly not notable, then take it to AFD. If you think that it just need references, then change the tag. --After Midnight 0001 03:42, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- He did have a web page about 8 or 9 years ago, but it seems to be gone. It had all of his lists up to 1999. gar in Oakland (talk) 05:08, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Broadway credits
I'm trying to make sense of his Broadway credits. One source I found says he has two: Dead End (credited as Richard Selzer) and Catherine Was Great (as Dick Ellis).
IBDb has his Catherine credit, but nowhere in the cast of Dead End is he listed, either in the opening night cast or as a replacement. I cannot find anyone with a version of his known names in the cast of Dead End. (There are one or two Richards, however.)
It would be great to document this for sure; if we could, we could also update his listing at IBDb. (IBDb is the Internet Broadway Database, similar to IMDb.)
(On a side note, Mae West wrote and starred in Catherine Was Great. I would like to have heard what he said about her fashion sense. In Dead End, Sidney Lumet appeared as a small boy.)
