Nationality
He is German-American, as he is German of ethnicity and was born in frankfurt in germany. I can't change it because the page is protected. DonaldDuck2001 (talk) 21:16, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Now he's been re-categorized as a "naturalized New Zealand citizen", which is patently ridiculous as he has barely spent a month in New Zealand his entire life, and has no intention of living there permanently. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 20:55, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- @MaxBrowne2 If that's what the reliable sources say, then that's what we have to work with. To my understanding, if a citizen of a country was not born there, that situation is usually due to some naturalization process. WeyerStudentOfAgrippa (talk) 12:29, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- While RS's say he was granted NZ citizenship, they do not use the word "naturalized", which implies that someone actually lives in the country. "Naturalized US citizen" is accurate. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 00:03, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
- @MaxBrowne2 You seem to disagree with the recent category merger; this is really beyond the scope of the Thiel article. You could try starting a discussion at WT:CAT, if I understand correctly, but I don't have much experience with categories. WeyerStudentOfAgrippa (talk) 16:16, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
- Got a reliable source that calls him a "naturalized New Zealand citizen?". No, didn't think so, nor does it occur anywhere in the article text, and the description is frankly offensive to actual New Zealand citizens. No you don't understand correctly, they can merge categories if they want, but it can have unintended consequences. It's not a debate I want to get involved in. - That's the question. He was born in Germany, but is he ethnically Jewish? His investments are hugely supportive of Israel, and he does nothing for Germany. I'm German. Considering how most Jews view Germans, that would be a normal question to ask. I have never read anywhere that he has even been asked the question. I would be very interested in the answer. 83.166.57.200 (talk) 06:44, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- It's very weird for the info box to state that his citizenship is United States and New Zealand but not Germany - unless he renounced the German citizenship that he acquired at birth (not mentioned in the article) how could he not be German? keypunch (talk) 17:25, 12 November 2024 (UTC)

- @2600:1005:B1C9:292B:A9EB:351C:CF57:587B Did you read the previous discussion? We have a Thiel interview that says he gave up his German passport, which some editors appear to have interpreted as his losing citizenship. Other sources stating that he has citizenship are not as reliable. It's entirely possible that he has German citizenship, but we do not currently have clear consensus to state that in a BLP. One potential way forward would be explaining more clearly what sources are saying what, with attribution, but as a biographical detail it probably shouldn't take up too much of the article. Thiels educational credential
He was a National Merit Scholar 2.66.93.164 (talk) 00:05, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
FBI informant sits within Y Combinator.
The statement that Thiel become an FBI informant sits under the Y Combinator haeding but is unrelated to YC and is outside the range of years given for YC. It is probably in the wrong section completely, 'Career', but should at least be separated from YC. Ralph Corderoy (talk) 13:22, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

The Peter Thiel Wiki page uses the word 'Falsehood' regarding a controversial, partisan issue that half the world believes to be true. So the word 'Falsehood' regarding the 2020 election which was NEVER officially investigated, do to a lack of standing according to the Courts, should be changed to acknowledge that. Perhaps say 'controversial' instead and include a link to a page that gives both sides and not just one side. Thank you. HoranWay (talk) 03:01, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- It has been widely reported in reliable sources that claims of widespread electoral fraud in 2020 are false. News media don't make such statements lightly. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 04:06, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Not done... your request lacks any reliable sources necessary to cite the requested change... - Adolphus79 (talk) 04:42, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
Change residence from San Francisco to Los Angeles
Thiel has moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles in a widely-publicized move due to political reasons. The Forbes profile below confirms his living in Los Angeles.
The line below in Personal Life should be updated: > He resides in San Francisco, California.
