ALT1: ... that some say a Countess of Cassilis was imprisoned in Maybole Castle in a room decorated with the faces of the man she ran off with (John Faa) and his followers after they were killed by her husband?

Comment: This is my first ever DYK, so apologies if I'm not following the process properly. Would suggest a different picture if going with something based on ALT1.

This section feels like it groups a lot of stuff together. I suggest splitting the paragraphs 1 3 and 4 about the earls owning the castle, paragraph 2 about Faa's story, and paragraphs 5 6 and 7 about damage to the castle into their own sections. And also, move 21st century as its own section under "History"
