'Originally retrieved' addendum in obituary citation
The NYTimes and others missed the death of Amb. Toon for some years while Wiki did not. Wiki's source has since had to be changed to a new url-link at the same source so the normal 'Retrieved' date is in 2017 and doesn't communicate the much-earlier, original citation date. I think Wiki's good work is worthy of, and I've added, an 'Originally retrieved' addendum to the citation. It's an accomplishment for which the encyclopedia can be proud.
This rather unusual but I think good addition has been back-and-forth in-and-out and evolving a bit in the past month-plus. It's also been discussed now at some length on my Talk page. In short, if consensus is achieved, the addendum will read: Originally retrieved March 26, 2009 with a different, now-dead link to The Pilot.
I support the addendum. Swliv (talk) 17:28, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose the useless information of a retrieval date about a dead link. --VanBuren (talk) 15:25, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
