Alphabetical Order?
The original list was in clockwise order. A clockwise or other geographic order has more information inherently imbedded. I personally believe an alphabetical order is a dumb order since anyone can create an alphabetical order from another order, but the reverse is not true. Is there agreement in the en-WP that every list has to be in alphabetical order? If not, can we restore the original geographic order?--Ratzer (talk) 10:24, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- It was before I became an editor that Phanly alphabetized the list here. I imagine he didn't see the information stating that they were in clockwise order.
However, quite a few ice shelves have been added since so puting them in clockwise order will be a big task. I can do it though if you would prefer? Unless you have the info to do it.Polargeo (talk) 10:44, 13 November 2009 (UTC)- I will put it into clockwise order. Polargeo (talk) 11:14, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Name
While we are discussing this. DiverDave moved the article from List of Antarctic ice shelves I think it should be moved back to make it clear this is a list and not a normal article. I have already discussed this with DiverDave User_talk:DiverDave#Lists and he was happy for me to move it back. Polargeo (talk) 10:55, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

The result of the move request was pages moved. chaser (talk) 19:54, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Ice shelves of Antarctica → List of Antarctic ice shelves — The page was moved without discussion by someone who didn’t understand the naming conventions for lists and this person has agreed that the pages can be moved back see User talk:DiverDave#Lists. --Polargeo (talk) 11:48, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ice streams of Antarctica → List of Antarctic ice streams
- Glaciers of Antarctica → List of glaciers in the Antarctic
- I've moved all three back. Discussion isn't necessary where the mover agrees to a reversion. Cheers.--chaser (talk) 19:39, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Extent of ice shelves around coast
The ice shelf article states (seemingly with a reference) that 74% of Antarctica's coast has ice shelves attached - a figure that conflicts with that given in this article ie 44%. Which is correct (if either, since the figure seems likely to be diminishing). cheers Geopersona (talk) 21:13, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
- seeing no actual percentages listed on either references, and assuming this number is constantly changing anyway, I decided to remove both values given and just replace them with "a large portion" of the coastline has ice. perhaps someone can provide reference to a better current estimate. I tried searching but didn't have much luck. Quickmythril (talk) 08:48, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
