Talk:Herman's Hermits

Accent

Re the second paragraph - these songs were aimed at a US fan base, with Peter Noone exaggerating his Mancunian accent; One of the songs "Henry the Eighth, I Am" is clearly sung with an exaggerated Cockney accent, as is the music hall original.

Unbiased POV?

This article seems to have more than its fair share of defensive statements about the band; might be in need of a neutral rewrite. 12.10.217.50 14:34, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Critique

The Early History is mostly filled with anecdotes. Good anecdotes, but not much about the band's actual history. And there's no Later History section. In fact, only one of the band's albums is ever mentioned.

Documentary references (e.g. "Noone interview") need to be moved out of the text and into the reference section, i.e. footnotes.

Also, I have seen reference to the Greatest Hits album being released in 1987, not 1997. Please check.

Are all the parts of the article documented as "personal correspondence" able to be independently verified? 24.0.107.45 15:04, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How can it be that there isn't a single reference to No Milk Today ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.167.194.180 (talk) 15:54, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article seems mainly concerned with their American success, which is surprising, considering they were a British group. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.149.241.193 (talk) 21:28, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Biased POV in section "Post-Herman Careers"

I removed the following lines from the section "Post-Herman Careers":

  • "An excellent front man and underrated singer, Noone left the band in 1971."
  • "A talented guitarist and keyboardist, Hopwood left as well, starting his own music company."
  • "A very talented guitarist gifted with perfect pitch, Lek could have played in his choice of

bands but was extremely close to his fellow Hermits."

These lines seems to have a biased POV, and I am going to revise them to be more neutral. If anyone disagrees, please say so. Thanks, SaintJimmy505 (talk) 02:09, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I say yes. I've been trying to clean up what was a very POV article by dibs and dabs for a while (though the POV was very pleasant, appreciative, not really controversial -- just unencylopedic, like the examples you give). Now, regarding your last deletion, "Lek" having perfect pitch may be a noteworthy fact, but it would probably require a fact tag if you were to decide to put it back. In copyediting the article, I've tried to tone down the POV; omitting Whitwam completely from this section is, in my view, a NPOV violation. Wi2g 20:28, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This section seems to have been edited heavily in favor of the Whitwam-lead Hermits. What most people think of when they think of Herman's Hermits is the group that had the hit records - Noone, Leckenby, Whitwam, Hopwood and Greene. The latter day touring Hermits, under Whitwam or Noone, have only a small connection to the classic lineup. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.21.198.119 (talk) 02:20, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

List of albums

Two albums keep getting added to the list of studio albums - one is a compilation and one says it is a live album. Why do they keep get added here ?

They need to be added to Herman's Hermits discography -- Beardo (talk) 19:03, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Malcolm Lightfoot

I think he was in the original band in the very beginning. Needs verification. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.138.41.85 (talk) 16:07, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
