Lucy Grymes

Removing reference to her as the "Lowland Beauty." There is no reliable evidence to show she is the women referred to by this name. Her name was apparently cited as the Lowland Beauty by Parson Weems...not a reliable source. The source noted in the article as it stands no longer exists and in fact redirects to a page selling Viagra. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sonofkenny (talk • contribs) 13:53, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

, nicknamed "The Lowland Beauty".[1][2] According to local tradition, she was one of the Virginia beauties adored by Gen. George Washington (1732-1799) in his early youth. To her legend also ascribes his schoolboy verses, and many have surmised that when in after years Washington so favored her son "Harry", it was because of his tender memories of the boy's mother. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sonofkenny (talk • contribs) 13:57, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The "Lowland beauty" is mentioned in the Lyon Gardiner Tyler encyclopedia as well as the Nagel book now cited.Jweaver28 (talk)

Genealogical Information

Removing the excessive genealogical information on Henry Lee II. Literally millions of people are descended from the people noted. It is not unique to Henry Lee II, nor is it particularly relevant to his biography. There is no evidence that Lee was in any way influenced by his descent from these people. In addition, the citations noted no longer appear to be valid.

Lee Hall

Removed links for "Lee Hall" due to corresponding link not having an article referring to the (correct) Lee Hall in Westmoreland County, Virginia. The Lee Hall in Newport News (formerly Warwick County), Virginia and its corresponding mansion should not be confused with this Lee Hall, near the town of Hague.24.245.108.228 (talk) 05:25, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lucy Grymes poisoning

I added mention of the 1767 Lucy Grymes Lee poisoning incident yesterday, and cited the Nagel book despite its index sometimes confusing this man and his cousin Richard Henry Lee or his son lighthorse Harry Lee. I also mentioned the scandals surrounding the son, which are detailed in that book by a respected but now deceased historian. Before Covid, I saw an exhibit which mentioned that poisoning at a local museum/park, but could not find this month, so it may have been a temporary exhibit, although the documentation does exist.Jweaver28 (talk) 16:57, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
