Talk:Grimlock

Universe

Maybe YOU consider the Wal*Mart Landfill set and the "Dinobots" subline Grimlock "unofficially part of Universe," but it's NOT a popular opinion, and OFFICIALLY, they belong in other lines, and they are mentioned accordingly in the respective section of the page. Likewise, the Scavenger repaint of Grimlock? It's not Grimlock - it's Scavenger, so it barely merits mention. All that leaves for a Universe sub-section is War Within Grimlock's comic appearance, it's not not worth creating a heading for one sentence of information, so that is mentioned in the Dreamwave section. CONDENSE information into the smallest possible space for easy consumption - don't expand it unnecessarily.

Walmart Grimlock appeared in a Universe storyline. War Within Grimlock appeared in 2 issues of the comics and in a voice actor play. Reuses of a mold formerly from Grimlock seem worth one sentence mentions. usertalk:mathewignash

Speech impediment

One theory for Grimlock's speech impediment in this series is that Grimlock's memory is programmed with so much information about combat tactics and war strategies that very little memory was left over for other subjects like the comprehensive rules that govern speech. As a result, the only speech program that would fit in the remaining space was a minimalized set of grammatical rules.

I never saw anything like this theory in The War Within comics. Can anyone point me to the book & page where that's said? If it's not from the series and is just fan speculation, then I'm sorry, but Wikipedia isn't the place for it. -- Ritchy 19:50, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
In the Dreamwave MTMTE series Optimus Prime theorizes Grimlock doesn't fix the glitch in his speech processor on purpose because he likes his opponents underestimating him. User:Mathewignash
Congratulations, you've all given more thought to the Dinobots than the people who actually created them. Here's how it went: "Kids like Transformers, but kids also like dinosaurs. Let's make Transformers that are dinosaurs! Great idea, Bob (or Akira or whatever), but, say, weren't dinosaurs kind of stupid? Well, just make the robots talk like they're stupid, too!" Then, being children, we all loved the idea until we grew up and realized that there was: a) no reason to make any robot dumber than another, and b) no reason to disguise robots from the prying eyes of real dinosaurs.--172.190.16.197 (talk) 08:49, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Added info on Grimlock's death

Added in a little bit about Grimlock's death in the Generation 2 story Allignment. As very few people know about this story (even though it was written by Simon Furman), I thought it might be important to add in. The story Allignment was recently put up for download from the website for Transforce, the UK convention that published it.

Strength

I reckon Grimlock was stronger than Optimus Prime or Megatron. The Tech Specs only went up to 10. Grimlock might've been as high as 13.

Doubt it. He was shown to stalemate Megs, not outright beat him in a few episodes. And in the Marvel comics Megs was able to hammer all 5 Dinobots when not even at full power. Only Prime is Megatron's equal in strength in virtually all continuities.SMegatron 18:34, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Optimus Prime and Grimlock on their file cards are both a 10. Optimus Prime and Grimklock had the same endurance level of 10 as well while Megatron had a 9 in that. Optimus Prime and Grimlock are equals. And both able to beat Megatron. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.202.49.196 (talk) 19:39, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In a world where all you do is pick who has the highest number as the winner, I guess. Sort of simplistic. Mathewignash (talk) 20:25, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Grimlock in " Atlantis, Arise! " and in " Desertion Of The Dinobots " he held his own in one on one combat with Megatron. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.202.49.196 (talk) 19:25, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of sources and references

I don't see any problem with this page. It has info from the toy box, and people who read the comic books and watched the TV show. Seems fine to me. 6-21-06 user:Mathewignash

he managed to beat trypticon, and its undoubted that trypticon is more powerful than prime and megatron combined. ultimately he is based on the most powerful predator to ever walk this earth. the tech sheets are not an exact science. IMHO he is the most powerful of all transformers, bar the big six. three of which are his allies. (i dont mean combiners) neither the videos or comics are consistant in their perception of the transformers strengths. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.220.69.77 (talk) 10:40, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Autobot logo s.jpg

Image:Autobot logo s.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Animated Series

To stop the turncoat Dinobots, two new ones were created: Snarl and Swoop.

This is not correct. In series one, episode 10, Optimus Prime decides that two more Dinobots should be created before he realises that the original three Dinobots are going to be deceived by Megatron. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.242.108.142 (talk) 11:13, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

G1 Grimlock Personality

I have added one additional sentence to Grimlock's description in the G1 section of the article. I have done this to better describe his relationships with other characters within the series as well as better describe the dinobot's demeanor.PerkinsonSC (talk) 23:14, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reducing the content

I was editing this article, "Grimlock" and noticed that the article is too long and contains many plots of the movies, series, & comics in which this fictional character has appeared. Moreover, there is a section called "Toys" that talks about the models of the character that were released (most of them do not have a source) which I think is totally unnecessary for this character as these topics contain an excessive amount of intricate detail that may interest only a particular audience.

My first edit on this article was reverted mainly because the edit was "Deviating from the style." I still do not know which part of the edit was deviating from the style, as all I did was remove a few pieces of content and not add any other extra information.

I've completed my second edit in my Sandbox. I would like to get your suggestions about this edit and point out any faults in it. Thank you. Tomlovesfar (talk) 18:08, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
