Talk:Ecohydrology

Started adding content to this stub. It's currently a little biased toward soil moisture dynamics, my own particular area of knowledge. Future contributions could address the energy balance, ecohydrology and evolution, and plant-atmosphere interactions in a ecohydrological context.

saturation

Referrng to soil moisture and soil water content levels as levels of soil saturation is unatisfactory. Saturation generally means "thoroughly full". More accurate terminology should be employed. I do not have access to the references relied upon - do they literally employ the variable "s" as meaning soil saturation? I hope not. -- Paleorthid 15:06, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"s" is indeed used in the hydrology community to denote the degree of saturation or unsaturation. It ranges from 0 to 1. It is the fraction of the voids occupied by water. Theta is the volumetric water content. Daniel Collins 00:29, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
