What does DD stand for?
It seems to me that the quality of the article would be enhanced if it mentioned the genesis of the DD designation. In other words, if it's an acronym, what does it stand for? If not, what is it? DeaconJohnFairfax (talk) 14:34, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed this problem by wordsmithing the first sentence in the article and adding a hyperlink back to the main Wikipedia page on destroyers. That page has (or links to) a nice description of the history of the DD numbering system. For example, it tells us that the system dates back to in 1907.
