Cop City → Atlanta Public Safety Training Center – Requesting title be changed to the official name of the proposed center, and not the contentious label used by its opponents. Travisthecrab (talk) 23:30, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose Can you explain why WP:COMMONNAME wouldn't apply here? Cop City is by far the more common name used by reliable sources when discussing the location. SilverserenC 00:45, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. WP:COMMONNAME applies and as the sourcing illustrates clearly (as article author I assessed this before starting it) indicates that Cop City is the common name. WP:CONTENTIOUS is about not calling things Nazi or Terrorist etc. If the BBC, CNN, and Reuters are calling it Cop City, we're in safe waters here. CT55555(talk) 01:00, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. 〜Festucalex • talk • contribs 02:26, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comment Atlanta Public Safety Training Center redirects to Cop City already, so anyone searching for the lesser used official name will still find themselves at the correct article. CT55555(talk) 03:41, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comment, Wikipedia does not follow official names. If you could provide evidence that Atlanta Public Safety Training Center is the name used most commonly in reliable sources, you would have a much stronger argument.Esolo5002 (talk) 14:41, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comment perhaps this should be merged to Stop Cop City. As it is, the article is basically just a CFORK of the article on the protests. Since the center isn't built yet, perhaps Atlanta Public Safety Training Center proposals would be a more descriptive name. Walt Yoder (talk) 18:31, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Stop Copy City is a campaign, it's quite narrow in focus. Cop City is a lot more than a protest, it is a site with a significant history, lots of things going on, lots of public debate. That it isn't built is not relevant, if it passes WP:GNG (which I am certain it does). CT55555(talk) 18:53, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support. This article is about the proposed facility, and there is plenty of well-sourced material for such an article. There are separate articles about the protests and the killing. The many occurrences of the name Cop City in sources seem to concern the protests and the killing rather than the facility itself. Andrewa (talk) 11:37, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- Weak Oppose - although I think WP:COMMON NAME applies, I do think that using the term "Cop City" may be a possible WP:NPOV violation, considering its primary use amongst opponents of the site, though many of those who support or are indifferent to the facility use the term as as well. - Oppose, WP:COMMONNAME. While yes, "Cop City" is an incredibly colloquial name, I've never seen it referred to as anything else. Snokalok (talk) 17:08, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Forgot the bold.
