  • Wait. I don't know whether I support this yet. My first instinct was "why is the name not plural?", but it looks like that's the official translation [1] and supported by Ngrams [2], so fine. However, I have not been able to establish whether this has always been the official translation of the name of this organization and its predecessors. Chinese government agencies are known to be continually renamed and reorganized – our article on China Railway says that this organization has only existed since 2013. Most of these models are really old, far older than the current China Railway. For some of them, like China Railways JF1, China was one operator of many and did not actually build the vehicles.     Okay, so Ministry of Railways (China) says that before 2013 trains in China were operated by the Ministry of Railways. In 2013, the Ministry's responsibilities were divided among three separate entities. Unless someone finds evidence that each of these vehicles were actually operated by an entity called "China Railway", I oppose this RM. Toadspike [Talk] 09:06, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    May I suggest some alternative formats: "JF1 (locomotive)", "JF1 locomotive", "Chinese locomotive JF1", "JF1 (Chinese locomotive)".
    Not sure what to do with "rolling stock" articles – honestly, these should use "carriage" as a disambiguator, not the extremely vague "rolling stock". Toadspike [Talk] 09:15, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
