Talk:Center for Automotive Research

POV of section 1.2, CAR

I notice this paragraph contains several uses of the word "our" - doesn't sound like something a neutral third party would say. Dan (talk) 11:38, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Two other Centers for Auto. Research, but no disambiguation

I notice there is another Center for Automotive Research at Ohio State University, and another at Stanford, but there is no disambiguation. I see in Revision History that someone at Thomas Paine1776 did something involving Ohio State, but I don't understand it.Virago2 (talk) 04:53, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of "Research" section

This section was written in promotion/PR language with tags calling for citations. It was a blatant contravention of WP:PROMO. It's gone. Tapered (talk) 01:17, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting this article?

..should be debated, at least. Searching online news for "Center for Automotive Research" yields 19,600 media results, so the item seems to have some importance and notability. TGCP (talk) 18:29, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tuskla and others, I have added a few media cites to show some notability. This should move the article from simple delete to a discussion about Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, possibly invoking Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles. TGCP (talk) 00:32, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is more like a industry lobby org, masquerading as a non-profit research institute. For example, it organizes like a cooperation, with almost every BOD member from industry. I check each and every "research" and other staff, the highest academic degree is a Master's degree. Not saying people with MS education background can't do research, but rather a reflection that this is not a real research institute. --Tuskla (talk) 22:42, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Both aspects seem present - such duality may increase notability. On one hand, there is government funding for reports :
This disruption report seems thin about the challenge from Silicon Valley. This is some 2012 guesses about vehicle communication . 2013 project for hemp.
On the other hand, there is criticism about bias :
2010 criticism about the Financial Crisis bailout due to this Congressional hearing about TARP, and ICCT criticism about light trucks, which was quoted by Ford to Trump due to the large profits in that sector.
If CAR is astroturfing, that would be notable in itself. TGCP (talk) 00:46, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
A similar example could be Institute for Energy Research. The corporate equivalent of astroturfing could be Corporate front organizations. TGCP (talk) 18:43, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
