The Lewis and Clark - Ken Burns Connection
The suggestion that cape disappointment could have been named during the Lewis and Clark expedition of 1805 is incorrect. The 1798 publication of George Vancouver's charting of the Northwest Coast includes maps which clearly labelc. disappointment at the mouth of the Columbia. Source: http://hdl.loc.gov/loc.gmd/g3512c.ct000914 This does not discount the possible John Meares connection, though I think it more likely, given the objectives of their voyages that it was named during the Vancouver expedition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.96.35.158 (talk) 04:45, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
