I don't think the tweet source is clear. It just says "oddly enough I prefer binary pronouns. he/him/his/she/her/hers"; I don't know what that means, exactly, but I'm not sure it means "either, whenever, you pick" which is what our statement seems to say. It might mean he when not in drag, she when in drag, which is pretty common. —valereee (talk) 15:25, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What's in a name?
Sources seem to primarily refer to Bob as "Bob" or "Bob the Drag Queen", not "Tidicue". See: [1], [2], [3], [4] etc. Note also, for what it's worth, that in this video Bob says "all my friends call me Bob", indicating that "Bob" isn't just a stage name. I think it makes sense in this case to primarily use the mononym "Bob". As MOS:SURNAME points out, it's OK to use mononyms in certain cases, and it lists the examples of Aaliyah, Selena and Usher. ...Actually, looking over the article some more, it does use "Bob" in many places. Tho for the early life section it uses "Tidicue" a lot. I think "Caldwell" might actually be best for early life, per Wikipedia's general stylistic preference for using the name a person went by at the time. The article goes back and forth between using Caldwell and Tidicue in a messy way. Tidicue is a name that has exclusively been used in professional billing situations, almost exclusively in early television appearances. As others have pointed out, it's a fake name Bob came up with because it's the phonetic expression of the letters T D Q, as in "The Drag Queen." As far as being billed mononymously, this just isn't accurate. There has never been a professional engagement - EVER - where he has simply been billed as "Bob". He is ALWAYS "Bob The Drag Queen". I have no doubt friends in his day to day life just call him Bob, the same say someone whose full legal name was John Smith wouldn't be called "John Smith" by his friends just "John." The most appropriate choice would be to utilize Caldwell when referencing him in the article, as that is his legal last name to date. CouplandForever (talk) 20:39, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
