The result of the move request was: moved. The article title as proposed seems to be the most acceptable to all involved. (closed by non-admin page mover) Sceptre (talk) 20:17, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
Big Bang (band) → BigBang (South Korean band) – The name of this group is "BIGBANG". There should not be a space between these two words.1, 2, 3 Just like how Blackpink is one word, and not Black Pink, or how Coldplay is not Cold Play. A few articles have cited the name in CamelCase as BigBang, and a few others have cited it in normal case as Bigbang. The preference over the case can be discussed, but the space should be removed. Support a move to Bigbang or BigBang, whichever other editors prefer.Sources are mixed and the band itself does not use a space.I oppose the unnecessary use of "(South Korean band)". — AjaxSmack 03:43, 30 January 2023 (UTC)- @AjaxSmack: I don't have a strong preference for adding "South Korean band" dab either. I have added that seeing how it had major support during this move request. Bostonite01310 talk 15:54, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- I just noticed Bigbang (Norwegian band), so I agree and have amended my comment to reflect that. I support the move as proposed and redirecting Bigbang, BigBang and Bigbang (band) to Big Bang (disambiguation) § Music. — AjaxSmack 04:21, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose - Sources are mixed and "Bigbang" is not a better page title. "Big Bang" makes the most sense in my opinion, but "BigBang" could also work too. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 15:09, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Nkon21: The band stylizes itself as BIGBANG with no spaces and in all caps. So the preference over Bigbang or BigBang can be discussed, but having a space is incorrect, even though it might be proper English. MOS:TM and WP:COMMONNAME agrees with no space. Bostonite01310 talk 15:38, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- Reliable sources predominately uses Big Bang or BigBang when referring to the group, not Bigbang, so I don't see why Wikipedia should use the latter. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 07:51, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Nkon21: I really have no preference over Bigbang or BigBang. The target page has been edited to "BigBang" as requested. Also some of the reliable sources could have been saying Big Bang seeing their Wikipedia page. It's a cycle. Bostonite01310 talk 19:04, 5 February 2023 (UTC)

- Support - I also agree with AjaxSmack and we can just put the stylized format on the lead section after the move. 98Tigerius (talk) 15:24, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- Neutral Both stylizations of the name are used. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 21:18, 5 February 2023 (UTC)

- Include "South Korean": Considering Big Bang (British band) and Bigbang (Norwegian band), which says the Norwegian band is typically called "BigBang", the current title is WP:Incomplete disambiguation. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:49, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

- Thank you for pointing that out. I looked at it, and it didn't change my mind. Boy bands tend to eventually fade in popularity. Is there something about this one that makes it especially notable to music or cultural history? — BarrelProof (talk) 23:21, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think the merits of that page move has changed since then so I don't see a need to include "South Korean band" to be honest. There is also a "Cultural impact and legacy" section of this article that talks about their impact to the cultural history of K-pop and boy bands. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 06:20, 10 February 2023 (UTC)

- Support - The group's official name is BigBang stylized in all caps. Lightoil (talk) 03:19, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Casing
Looking through the sources, it seems like the band's name is almost always stylized as BIGBANG and almost never BigBang. Even "Big Bang" is more common than "BigBang" in reliable sources. Considering that the previous discussion about moving the page left open the question of casing ("The preference over the case can be discussed, but the space should be removed.") I suggest changing the casing to BIGBANG. Yannn11 21:16, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- After reviewing WP:CAMELCASE, I see that the MOS specifies trademarks should not be written in all caps when not an acronym. The appropriate casing is therefore BigBang or Bigbang, which is a stylistic decision. I am fine keeping it as BigBang, for consistency their discography should also be written as BigBang. 150 million sales?
In 2017 it was stated in the lead that the total number of sales included the members solo releases and sub-units, which doesn't make sense. This version precedes the articles cited as sources now. In fact, the line mentioning the number as being the result of combined sales was scrapped here, citing a Variety article that mentions 140m sales. You can see that the previous version of the article also claimed 140m sales (with dubious sources) so Variety most likely referenced Wikipedia (WP:CIRCULAR). An earlier revision mentioned 100 million records (again, including solo releases) citing a forum as a source (WP:OR and WP:UGC). The claimed sales don't match the group's verifiable sales at all, and I couldn't find anything supporting that number. See also this discussion that goes into detail about the sources that are being used now. WP:CONTEXTMATTERS - even if the sources mentioned are reliable in general, sales figures need to be based on actual verifiable data. - Ïvana (talk) 18:15, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
- I think it needs to be modified because from what I've seen there's nothing that actually verifies it. It's also quite ridiculous to combine sales from members' individual releases with group releases Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 02:53, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Btspurplegalaxy: Sorry, I just saw your reply (I don't follow this page). Thanks for fixing it! - Ïvana (talk) 00:30, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Current Members
The box on the side - Background Information - lists 3 members. However Daesung terminated his contract with YG - shouldn't he be listed as a past member? This is also mentioned within the article, in the History section. 58.105.40.23 (talk) 05:54, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- His contract with the company was terminated, but there was no official announcement regarding his departure from the group. In contrast, Seungri and T.O.P had reports confirming their departure from the group. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 07:22, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
