======Re: My dis approvals====

Hello, Sir,

I just wanted to clear some points here, Dr. Hazarika basically born in Sadiya, Assam, British Inida. Since, currently Assam is a part of Republic of India technically Dr. Hazarika is an Indian rather than an Assamese. Assamese is a culture/language rather than a nationality. That I wanna make clear. Someone is editing it very often I'm unable to get who as many are actually not loged in. This actually creating a confusion on the word Assamese and also Dr. Hazarika's nationality for foreigners, it's okay for the Assamese people but many fan of him from other parts of India will also object.

Secondly, respected Kalpana Lajmi is not his wife in any sense. She also told NewLive that it's yellow journalism. She was his manager, friend and directed movies where his gave voice of music direction etc. I don't know from where this is also coming but we need to stop this.

Finally, the formatting and punctuation is poor on many edits. It's hard to find who's doing what in a Wiki but we active users must take it on our hands as a responsibility to improve this article.

Regards,

Wrix —Preceding undated comment added 18:08, 11 November 2011 (UTC).[reply]

* Regarding Kalpana Lajmi, you are right. I misinterpreted the "spouse" word and confused it with the "partner" parameter. (Lajmi was his live in partner, they have openly stated it in many press appearances. There is multiple stories from independent sources. Probably you have overlooked the ref.s 12, 13, 14, from different sources:
* ^ http://ibnlive.in.com/blogs/rituparnachatterjee/2802/62880/kalpana-lajmibhupen-hazarika-a-40yearold-love-story.html

Sri Neog,Reference from news channels and are never credible so are the blogs.I dont think they are of much importance. Moreover I dont think the name "Kalpana Lazmi" be mentioned under the vital statistics of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika without approval from his wife or son. This page was created only after the demise of the legend. You could have done that when he was still alive and talking. --D.Borah — Preceding unsigned comment added by D.Borah (talk • contribs) 10:12, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It should have been spouse: Priyambada (1950-1963) and partner: Kalpana. So maybe we should have corrected it accordingly, instead of removing it altogether?
Regarding Priyambada Patel, his ex wife, what was the problem? Was it necessary to remove? If there were no ref.s, we could've done it with a {{citation needed}}?
Are you sure that India at that time called "Indian Empire?" I've came across "British India" but never heard "Indian Emoire", so please clear my doubt.
Images: Was it necessary to remove them? If so why? What about the signature image? Please check.
Here is what I'd like you to consider:
  1. Revert the page to this revision
  2. Then make the following changes:
    1. Spouse =
Priyambada Patel
(m. 1950–1963)

and partner = Kalpana Lajmi. I'll provide references.

    1. Change "Indian Empire" to "British India", or "Pre Independence India.
  1. Then we stop modifying the article page, discuss on this page and put information on the article page only after we all agree.
  2. Until we all agree on the above, we should refrain from editing from now on, and keep it as it is right now.

Thanks

* I'd like to clear up myself and the topic itself. Dr. Hazarika's wife respected Priyambada Patel, never got divorced moreover, she's staying in Canada and that's their family matter but in a interview to Newlive aired on 11th Nov, Kalpana Lajmi said "Priyam Bo came to see him", she also said that she's 84 and her health is also not good from last 5 years thus, she stopped coming. Thus, Dr. Hazarika's relationship with his wife can be said "separated" in my point-of-view rather than, "Ex-wife" or something. Kalpana Lajmi also said that, Dr. Hazarika was so much involved into his music that he wasn't able to give time to his wife and son, so both the parties lived parallel lives but emotional bond between them was there. So, regarding his spouse field I'd suggest separated or nothing. Kalpana Lajimi deserves to be called partner or manager.

Pre-Independent India, was called British India or British Raj (in Indian form of English, mixed language). So, I'd also suggest this to be changed.

Wrix

Thanks for your input, Wrix.
So let me go ahead. For now lets go ahead, I'll try to present the spouce/separated part carefully. There is a {{married}} template, we can use that. I'll also put a {{citation needed}} tag. In the mean time, lets try to get some reliable reference material. In fact being in Guwahati, it'd be much easier for you. So, let's not fight, lets write. However, right now we need to gather information and present it ASAP (of course, we need to be correct, so we'll follow Wikipedia policy documents (please see your talk page for these documents.)

Unconstructive edits

  1. I removed the infobox from this talk page - this is not the place for test edits.
  2. Wikipedia is not a memorial site, but the edits since his death are largely POV; examples: "the trio who had a tremendous impact on his professional life" is unencyclopedic per WP:WTA, "whose lessons on humanity and universalism were to last Bhupen Hazarika's entire life" is original research and editorializing, "the doyens of Assamese culture" is merely promotional, and so on
If they trio did have a tremendous impact on his professional life, how else would you word it? Bhupen Hazarika has frequently talked about the influence. What is probably lacking is a reference, which will ultimately come by.
"doyens" is word found in most reputed dictionary and used widely in India. So is Indian English colloquial for an Indian?
Chaipau (talk) 21:18, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  1. "Dr." is not part of a person's name but a title.
  2. File:Bhupen Hazarika.jpg is missing evidence of permission.
  3. Section headings are not for one or two sentences.
  4. "Personal biography" does not make any sense as a section title.
So what would you recommend? This section deals with Bhupen Hazarika's personal issues, separating it from his artistic life.
  1. The article is now full of short and shoppy paragraphs - if you want to make a complete rewrite, use a sandbox.

Overenthusiastic tags

I have removed over-enthusiastic tags byHekerui . These tags should be properly and specifically justified. I had addressed the earlier concerns and made edit changes accordingly. The newer tags are not justified.

The only justification new edits are in the form of an edit summary, which reads: '"infused with humanity and universalism" - POV not taken care of', and the original tags were reinstated. The particular phrase is a new one (so does not warrant a "not taken care of"), and it is general and broad characterization of the artist's theme of his entire opus (over a seventy-year period) that is made in the introductory part of the article. What it probably lacks is a citation and a general tag is unwarranted. Also, this article is a work in progress under Project:Assam. Constructive comments and specific guides are welcome, though broad tagging does not help.

Chaipau (talk) 11:52, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You must be joking. The lead is written like an laudatory obituary. "Known for writing strong lyrics with themes of communal amity, universal justice and empathy, his songs have become popular among all sections of ethnic and religious communities in Assam." - this is pure POV - the characterization is made by you. The overenthusiatic editing is your work and the maintenance templates should stay so the article may be fixed in the future. Also, why "broad tagging"? Maintenance templates only help if they are visible. Hekerui (talk) 09:19, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
"...written like a laudatory obituary", is your personal point of view. As i mentioned, what is missing here is a citation. This is a summary of what will be justified in the "Legacy" section, duly referenced. But I don't want to get into an edit war with you and will let the tags stand for now, as I concentrate on adding more heft to the article. I repeat my earlier request---make specific observations about what you think are POV or problematic parts of the article at specific points and help the growth of this article.
