Talk:Address pool

Narrow Audience

This article will not be useful for someone who is unfamiliar with the subject matter. I would like someone with the proper expertise to expand the article for a broader audience. If someone could answer the following questions in a re-write of the article, then I think it would be much more helpful for someone trying to learn from this wikipedia entry.

(1) What is an address pool good for or why was it devised? (2) What do networks have to do with anything? (3) You indicate the number of networks for some of the classes but why are there that many and what is the importance of these numbers? (4) Could you give some examples of address pools? (5) Is there anything else I should know about address pools?

Merge Suggestion

Most of this information is outdated and should be merged into Classful network. Since 1993, IP addresses are currently assigned in CIDR blocks --Maetrics 00:04, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

Frankly this article should be deleted, or at least redirected somewhere. There is nothing special about the term address pool in connection with the Internet or any other system of addressable objects. It has no notability as a term especially recognized in any particular field. Kbrose (talk) 22:20, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Redirected it to the IPv4 address exhaustion article, probably the most timely relation currently, if one considers the term only in relation to the Internet addressing.
That's not a sensible redirect. What you want to do is delete the article. Please try WP:PROD for that. --Kvng (talk) 14:19, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You, yourself, suggested it, as is seen above. It would be a very timely redirect, as this is the most prominent connection of the term currently. But never mind, I replaced the false content with some general use examples. Kbrose (talk) 16:56, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
