Talk:24th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards

Individuals vs. studios

@Masem: Regarding this edit, I really think the most accurate way to approach these articles is to list the individual names who have been nominated. The AIAS itself lists these names, both during the ceremony and in the list of nominees, and it's technically the individuals who are nominated, not the studios. I consider this akin to the Academy Awards, who nominate/award specific people, and Wikipedia lists them as such. If your concern is consistency with previous articles, then this is something that can be remedied, and I would be happy to spend the time doing so. – Rhain 20:52, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if this is was also done for Game Awards and for GDC. If this is something consistent across all awards that we can do, as to adjust our tables appropriately, that would be worthwhile. If its just DICE, that's still fine, I just don't recall seeing names much before in DICE's table, and when the 3rd party sites cover it, they drop the names. --Masem (t) 22:26, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Masem: The Game Awards only provides individual names for Narrative and Score/Music (as seen here), and I believe that only began in the most recent show. GDCA only credits studios. And, interestingly enough, the individual names only seems to be a recent thing for D.I.C.E., too; they credited studios for the 22nd and only started naming individuals in the 23rd. You're correct in that sources typically drop the names—but, then again, the same can be said about the Oscars anyway. – Rhain 00:01, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. The only thing is that unlike films, video games nearly always are tied to dev and publisher, even in the obvious cases. So a means that includes both the individuals and the dev/pub would likely be okay, though this may weigh down these tables. I think we've also been wary on names as the bulk of these individuals aren't notable compared the film industry. --Masem (t) 00:12, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Masem: Given that the developers and publishers are technically co-nominated alongside the individuals, it makes sense to include those as well. I think the best way to do so would be as brackets following the game title, as seen below. I understand the concern that this may look messy (I had the same concern), but honestly I don't think it does—especially once the winners are highlighted, as demonstrated on the right. – Rhain 12:24, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Game of the Year Outstanding Achievement in Animation
‡ not the real winner
@Masem: Thoughts? – Rhain 22:26, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's fair enough. --Masem (t) 23:07, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
