Blasphemous article
From User talk:195.93.21.7.... "Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Dinosaur, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you feel that the edit I reverted should not have been reverted, please contact me. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 02:10, 20 July 2006 (UTC)"
Yes I feel that my reverts should of not been reverted. The Dinosaur article is nothing but false lies to defame God and contradict THE BIBLE. Do you know what contradict means? Can you look it up? Can you not see that you and all the reverting fools will go to Hell just for printing nonsense lies against the True Creation to mock God Himself? Who do you think God favours little man? Me ---an instrument of His Truth--- or people like you censoring the Truth by reverting to this fictional nonsense about "dinosaurs". The world is not even that old. Fairytales about giant monsters and you sinful Godless idiots believe it all like brainless cows! WAKE UP. You will literally] go to Hell if you continue a hopeless struggle against the Light. We will be a Christian Republic and then you vile Satanic creatures will know what it means to fight for the side of Evil. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.93.21.134 (talk • contribs) 02:28, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Can't you read a word I write!!!??! You didn't answer a single point! You can't because you know this rubbish about dinosaurs is all lies! But you won't take action because your a spineless cowardly little worm who would rather serve the Devil. How do you "people" look yourselves in the mirror? This is why America is a swamp of filth and immorality, people like you and all the cowards who won't stand up to the Devil. But I will. I will buy a hundred computers and get a hundred different connections to the internet if I have to. I will win this war against the false dinosaur article if it takes ten years of non-stop work and then I will move onto other disgusting and blasphemous deceitful pages on this so called wikipedia. Yes you can block my IP but you will ultimately go to Hell where you will writhe in total agony forever. Maggots and worms will devour you endlessly as fires hotter than blowtorches sear into the flesh of your immortal soul for all eternity. Even your eyes will be scorched out, you pathetic sinful filth. You make me sick. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.93.21.134 (talk • contribs) 02:39, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Calmed down? Like I was trying to say, I'm communicating (or trying to communicate) with smug smirking morons who don't even CARE if they putrify and immolate in Hell forever. This is what we are dealing with today. Half of the country is like you. You people are the reason America needs a theocracy. Do you know what that word means, little person? Look it up. Do you know what happens to smug little blasphemers like you in Iran? Hmm? You would not be so "clever" hung from your kneck for the crows to feed on. Not so clever when you realize the eternity before you, rotting and burning forever, with NO hope of escape.. Oh ha ha, tee-hee, oh clever we were. Will you be saying that when you are implaled through the rectum in Satan's pit, while carnivorous worms chew out your eyeballs? I wonder. Why must you endlessly taunt and mock my conviction in the Truth? Can't you see the rewards God would give you in the next life? Hell averted, heaven granted. Accept the light instead of constantly ridiculing the truth. Nobody was born evil. There is a good person in you somewhere who can follow the Truth. If not for me, think of your own eternity. Heavenly bliss will be yours if you become as much an instrument of God as I am. Wouldn't it be good to surrender yourself completely, to a Higher Purpose? Imagine if your life had real meaning and conviction. Please, friend. Stop mocking me. Do this, and help to save many souls from these corrupt lies. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.93.21.134 (talk • contribs) 04:13, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

- This is one reason I wouldn't want policy to prevent anonymous editors: they provide so much entertainment! Of course it's easy for me to laugh, I didn't have an incoherent and insulting rant posted on my page. If I'm ever going to attract any really interresting trolls I guess I'll have to get more involved in RC and Vandal Patrol. In the meantime, would someone add a link to the article in question, so I can watch the fun in person? --Doc Tropics Message in a bottle 05:04, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, and Wow! What a great article; I've got it Watchlisted now, and I'll be watching it too. crossposted from my page, plus: I enjoy getting messages because most of the ones I get are rational and largely positive. I can understand you might not be having that same reaction though, it seems like all kinds of intellectual riff-raff post here :) --Doc Tropics Message in a bottle 05:24, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think my policy of keeping most of the comments I get intact could be construed as "feeding the trolls" (in reality, it's just my obsessiveness). It does make for an entertaining read in the end, though, I guess. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 05:28, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Edit on Talk page
Hi,
Just noticed this edit. The better way would have been to blank the whole talk page vandalism. I wonder if you should count it in your "Screw ups" though. Anyway, thanks for removing the offensive image. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 16:19, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- I actually left that message there so the vandal would be held accountable, but deliberately removed the image link. I think blanking the talk page would be counterproductive in the end as far as stopping vandalism goes, and I also didn't feel qualified to just delete all the text on your talk page. At any rate, since it's what you prefer, if I see vandalism to your talk again, I'll just remove it. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 16:24, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
why must you do that
let me have my page back and let me make it more wiki. --Wizzler2 18:04, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- No one "took the page away", and it's not "your" page. It was riddled with non-notable bios and advertising language, so I tried my best to neutralize it. You are more than welcome to continue adding to it, but please, please do not try to steer the article back in the vanity direction. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 18:06, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
serious? vanity? are you kidding me? why are facts vanity? why is the list of editors vanity? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wizzler2 (talk • contribs) 18:36, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Why can't facts be vanity? A list of editors is not necessarily vanity (but is pushing it); what you had were extended bios about everyone related to the site, a complete history of the comings and goings of editors, and several non-neutral statements. Please read WP:NPOV and WP:N before adding those sections back again. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 18:39, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
why do you get to decided the notability of people?
just a thought, over 30,000 people know me
over 30,000 people hate you, does it mean anything, probably. --Wizzler2 02:47, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- I believe you, because I had to remove over 30,000 Internet nicknames from that page.
I shouldn't have to explain to you why people whose only claims to fame are being a part of that site should not have half-page biographies, and I especially shouldn't have to explain why it's not okay to make endless lists of Internet nicknames for people who can post on a message board. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 02:57, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
so instead of anwering anything you just delete it.
if i made a time magazine page could i list the editors of it, or would that be vanity?--Wizzler2 02:59, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- What am I supposed to be answering? The people on the list are very clearly not notable. They would not have articles of their own on Wikipedia.
Please don't try to compare the editors of that website to Time Magazine editors. That's another fallacy I shouldn't have to explain. And I never removed the list of editors, only their "biographies", so I don't know what you're complaining about. I could have just put the article up for deletion, but decided to make several edits to it so it might not be tagged thusly. I am now starting to regret that gesture. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 03:02, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
so no reply???--Wizzler2 03:09, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- No reply to what? The Time Magazine question? The answer is no -- that's not vanity, because a Time Magazine editor is notable. They have at least national recognition. They would have their own Wikipedia pages. The editors of that site probably don't. Listing them would be borderline vanity, but I won't argue it. However, they don't deserve lengthy biographies, in that article or in one devoted just to their names, until their notability is established. No one knows who a bunch of random fake names made up for message board use are, and they add absolutely nothing to the article, so they shouldn't be in either.
Let me explain something else to you: If I hadn't neutered your article of advertisements and vanity text, either someone else would have or would have requested the page to be deleted. If you could just be bothered to read the rules of Wikipedia, starting with WP:5P, for example, you would understand that it's not just me trying to be a jerk, it's policy. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 03:14, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
mark up 9-1038 times you were wrong.
i would wait for your reply, but i have things to do, its called having a life try it.--Wizzler2 03:12, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Is that the reason you can't read the rules? -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 03:14, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Here's my input. If I were to read an article about a sports network website, I wouldn't want to read a list of tons of nicknames of people who posted a lot on it. I'd skip over it immediately. Info like that should be put on the talk page for it, it's not actually that important. I'd rather have an article up about my site rather than have it deleted due to too much useless info. He's doing you a favor whether you realize it or not. -- MaxDuo 03:31, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Question
I really like the vandalism counter you have on your page, and like you I surf the RC wasting away reverting vandalism and other nonsense, I was wondering if I could have your approval to use that code-ing for your "mistaken reverts". If not, no problem, just thought I would ask! --Sopranosmob781 18:54, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Sure, no problem, have at it. I don't know if you use VandalProof, but it has an error counter built-in that can post to your talk page, and I believe it gives extended statistics as well. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 18:56, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- And change the text in your copy of my "error box" all you want; I like to use strongly self-critical language sometimes. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 18:58, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

These are continuations of old posts I missed because they were made in my talk archives after they were filed away. Regarding Master craftsman
Hey, sorry forgot to mention, yea your right, I thought about the fact that in the past there WERE only craftsMEN. But then, I thought, that's probably not true, but please, correct me if I'm wrong. 68.148.165.213 04:37, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I'm sure men weren't the only craftsmen, but were probably the main ones. This, of course, depends on things like the definition of "craftsman" or even "craft". I am not knowledgeable enough to speculate any further, but at any rate, I really don't think that article is guilty of sexist language just because it uses a term ending in "-man". -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 06:09, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
The Opposition - relevant
However looking at the notibilty article it seem that this band (as The Opposition and as So) tick more of the boxes than some other of the band's profile i have been on. For instance the Courduroy entry was very brief (i updated it to mention Boys Wonder) and I wondered why this too was not bless with the nob box?DJ HEAVEN 11:41, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- FYI Courduroy - their entry was: Corduroy (band)
Corduroy were a 4-piece acid jazz outfit based in London, Corduroy released three eclectic albums on Acid Jazz Records and then moved over to Big Cat Records. Several singles from their 1993 album High Havok charted in the U.K. Top Ten. (they'ver never had a top ten hit in the main chart)DJ HEAVEN 12:48, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Knoppix Issues
It's no problem. I'm glad you're willing to take a look. I'm running Knoppix 5.01 DVD on a HP TC1100 tablet PC. I'm at work right now and I'm having similar issues, although with a static IP.
I'll explain my work problem now, and go into the home issue later if need be. I go into Network Settings. My eth0 device is there (I assume that's my network card). I enable the interface, enter my ip and netmask, default gateway, etc. I copied the settings from a working computer, so they should work. The computer shows up on the network, and the ethernet lights are on, with the green blinking occasionally.
Trouble is, whenever I try to open firefox or konqueror, nothing will load. It always times out. I seem to be able to pull the header from the official knoppix site. I appreciate any help you can provide =). Let me know if you need any further info. Alphachimp talk 18:06, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Has /etc/resolv.conf been updated? To diagnose whether you're communicating with the nameserver, try
host google.com
at the terminal.
I suspect the problem is either with the static routes, the nameserver configuration, or the device interface could simply not be "up". Let me know if you couldn't resolve withhost
.
I am actually downloading Knoppix 5.0.1 right now (my latest version was 3.9), and I'll see if I can get VandalSniper working on that. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 18:17, 21 July 2006 (UTC)- "connection timed out. no servers could be reached." - Oh, you're asking what the broadcast IP is called. I don't exactly remember. I thought it was just "broadcast address". Windows usually fills that in for you, I believe. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 19:16, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

- Oh, you're asking what the broadcast IP is called. I don't exactly remember. I thought it was just "broadcast address". Windows usually fills that in for you, I believe. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 19:16, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Glad to hear you got networking up. Did you install the .NET framework et al yet? If so, try running vs.exe from the terminal to see the error output. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 20:01, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, I'm home. I didn't have time to install those packages at work. Anyway, the network situation is really strange here. When I use the host google.com (or any domain for that matter), it provides me with a complete breakdown of the site information (ip, mailservers). The computer shows up on my router. I still timeout everytime I attempt to access a website. Alphachimp talk 01:14, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- That's either a distribution-specific or version-specific configuration for
host
-- my setups' versions of the utility show the MX records and everything too.
Okay, I'm going to have to just brainstorm and throw out some ideas for your browsing problems. Do you have an unworking proxy address set up in preferences (also check thehttp_proxy
environment variable)? Is your router rejecting port 80 requests for some crazy reason, or only forwarding UDP packets? Is it performing erroneous NAT? Isiptables
running on your Linux box with a bad ruleset (iptables -L
to check)? If you need help with any of these checks, let me know. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 02:53, 22 July 2006 (UTC)- One more thing: I've seen erratic behavior by nForce ethernet devices in Knoppix (
lsmod|grep forcedeth
). That's probably a longshot, though. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 03:00, 22 July 2006 (UTC)- I'll check those out in the morning. One of my computers has an nForce 3 device, but the problems are consistent across both. Thanks so much for your help. I'll get back to you in the morning. By the way, did you finish getting knoppix? Alphachimp talk 04:58, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- I got it at work but had some CD-RW issues, and I just got it a short while ago at home but totally forgot about it. I will get it burnt soon and see if I can get VS working. I'll post here if I do. You have a good night. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 05:00, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks so much. I don't think it should matter, but I downloaded the DVD version. I think it just has a few more (read, a ton, including games, it's sort of ridiculous) apps installed. Alphachimp talk 05:04, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

- Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. I suspect all the important system stuff is the same between both versions. I would give the DVD version a try but I have no DVD-RW drives or discs here at the moment.
I'm exhausted, so I might have to continue this in the morning as well, if you don't mind. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 05:08, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Edit Warning Problems
I have received several messages warning me about Edits that I made to Playstation 3 pages. I actually made one of the edits to the List of Playstation 3 games page in a sarcastic way to send a message to the person who originally created the list, because the list has a ton of flaws! Here are some examples:
Conclusion: Please remove the warnings I have against me that would potentially prevent me from editing this nice website. I also request that you remove the "untitled" and "unspecified" games from the List of Playstation 3 games page. In order for a game to be mentioned in a list, it should at least have an official working title. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mike mgoblue (talk • contribs) 21:08, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- That's no excuse for flooding the page with useless data, which you have just confirmed to be vandalism. If this is who I think it is, and I don't have the prior IP still on record, then I want to point out that there's a difference between some ill-conceived "untitleds" in a list and deliberately making the page unreadable, "to prove a point" or otherwise. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 21:13, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- This editor account is obviously the sockpuppet of another account/registered user of a vandalising IP, as per his/her contributions (none excl. this page), and how they are defending actions in the style of writing which indicates they made the original edit. Good job
Hi Omnicronpersei8. I've seen your name popping up a lot recently, on WP:AIV and on general RC patrol. Just wanted to say: keep up the good work. Your efforts are helping improve Wikipedia and they are greatly appreciated. Best, Gwernol 21:21, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you, that means a lot. Keep up the good work yourself. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 21:21, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Contributions
Is there a way to change an IP to your name and have it under your contributions? I edited something in a car article earlier and wikipedia decided to log me out somewhere in there so now the credit is under my IP instead... Annoys me. MaxDuo (talk) 23:18, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
And what the heck is going on with my signature? I've put in the same thing as you. MaxDuo (talk) 23:19, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Make sure you click the "Raw Signature" box underneath where you put in your signature on your preferences page. See WP:SIG for more help. Killfest2 (Talk) 02:10, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, but I don't think there's a way to do that. I've done logged-out edits before accidentally as well, but it doesn't really matter for me since I hardly ever add content.
Killfest2, thanks for the help -- I wouldn't have known what to tell him. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 02:26, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- No problems...I can't remember why I came here in the first place, but I'm glad to help out wherever I can :P Killfest2 (Talk) 02:47, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: Jennifer Hawkins
Thank you for your concern, Omicronpersei8- however I can assure that upon browsing said page, I discovered the vulgarities and took it upon myself to delete them. As I am not a registered user of Wikipedia, I can only assume that the computer gave me the same IP address as the imbecile who put them on in the first place.
Regards,
Matt. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 219.88.94.119 (talk • contribs) 03:18, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

- Same user has just done a similar deletion of a large slab of text from Prisoner (TV series). Apparently s/he believes anything he edited is owned by him/her, and having decided to leave wikipedia now believes s/he can delete anything s/he edited. I reverted the Prisoner (TV series) deletion. S/He left me a sarcastic message on that's pages discussion page too. Asa01 04:20, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi there!
You're quite fast, mate! It seems that we often do RC patrolling at the same time and you are usually one step ahead of me in reverting test edits and vandalism. I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that your good works are not going unnoticed! Cheers! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hoopydink (talk • contribs) 04:29, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

A happy barnstar
The Working Man's Barnstar Awarded because of the number of times I see your name pop up on articles or user pages that I am monitoring, reverting vandalism and warning users. Also, because I get a kick out of your user name every time I see it. Soundbite: "Awarded for tireless work reverting vandalism and for having a great user name." --Yamla 16:44, 22 July 2006 (UTC) |
Gasp, why did you revert the article in Ben 10 about Gayneright, its not Wayernight, and he wasn't using Grey Matter to give to an Organization, it was stolen after he used it as a dildo to try and get attention. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.190.162.137 (talk • contribs) 18:21, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Carlos Mencia
Just thought I'd let you know that Carlos Mencia was born with the name Ned Arnel Mencia. It's on his birth certificate, so that is his birth name. However, after birth his parents thought it would be fitting to use his father's last name, so he was known as Ned Holness.
