Nick Wolven is a science fiction author and drummer, most noted for his story published in Asimov's Science Fiction April-May 2008[1][2], An Art, Like Everything Else. It has received many positive reactions in the blog world[3], as well as published editorials[4], and by reviewer Russ Allbery online[5]. Some reviewers have called it the best story in the issue[6]. 'The Lovesling'[7][8][9] and 'Senor Hedor'[10] have also received positive reactions. His story, Angie's Errand, a story dealing with gender issues[11] in a post-catastrophe world[12], is the featured cover story for the December 2009 issue of Asimov's Science Fiction magazine[13][14], but did not receive universally positive reviews[15]. His more recent stories have received more universally positive reviews[16].
He currently works at Barnard College Library[17]. As of February 1, 2010, he has stopped updating his blog[18].
Wolven is also a part-time drummer[19][20][21].
Wolven attended the Clarion Workshop in San Diego in 2007[22]. He currently lives in Brooklyn.
His story, An Art, Like Everthing Else, called a beautiful story with a tear-jerker ending by Spiral Galaxy Reviews[23], was featured in St Martin's Press's Year's Best Science Fiction of 2009[24].
