Philip Arden Beachy is professor of developmental biology at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Beachy has pioneered work in the biological sciences on various genes. In particular, Beachy has contributed to the understanding of the normal functions of secreted protein signals, such as those of the Hedgehog family, in establishment and maintenance of tissue pattern, and the pathological roles of such signaling pathways in cancer growth.

Beachy is a graduate of Goshen College a Mennonite institution of higher education in Goshen, Indiana and received his Ph.D. from Stanford University.

Beachy is also the brother of the historian, Robert M. Beachy.
