Wikipedia:MediaWiki namespace

Wikipedia:MediaWiki namespace now is a redirect to Help:MediaWiki namespace. This might be due to some merges with this or other articles.

  • This is a bad idea, since "Wikipedia" namespace is for general information (and other things), while "Help" namespace is for technical help.
  • In Help:MediaWiki namespace is some general information which should be moved (for example the history section. There might be more on other relevant "Wikipedia:"-pages (like guidelines regarding talk pages) or in the history of the redirects. Also it might be possible to link to articles in "Main" namespace.

I prefer to open up a blank search form in a new tab. See:

It is not possible now to do that. --Timeshifter (talk) 00:51, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Standardization

I've seen both "email" and "e-mail" used in interface messages, with "e-mail" being the most common. So I've been changing "email" to "e-mail" when I've come across it. I don't have any particular preference except for consistency. The argument for going the other direction is that the article is located at "email", but since this would require changing more interface pages, it should probably not be done without discussion. You should raise this issue in the support forum of translatewiki.net: http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Support . Thank you. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 17:00, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Quotes about MediaWiki

I'm doing research for Wikiquote, if anyone knows of interesting or pithy quotes about q:MediaWiki, please let me know at q:Talk:MediaWiki, it would be most appreciated! Thank you, — Cirt (talk) 17:19, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
