"Mambo!"
Song

"Mambo!" was Helena Paparizou 5th CD single and the first from her international album Helena. There was two versions; a Greek version and a English Version. The Greek version was released in November 2005 in Greece and was a major hit going straight to number one for ten weeks including christmas number and leaving Helena with her most successful CD single to date. Her single continued to stay in the charts for an amazing 23 weeks. Her single was released as a CD single and Sony BMG also re-released Helena's debut album for a third time with her single in under the name of Protereotita: Euro Edition + Mambo!

In April 2006 it was announced that the English version of her song would be released across the globe in Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Turkey and Spain by Helena's own record company Sony BMG. Other record companies will also release her song in France, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, Canada, South Africa, and Australia along with other countries. Moda Records will remix her song along with "My Number One" in the USA. The Scandinavian promotion of her song will be from Bonnier Music.

In Sweden "Mambo!" had been released in Sweden as Helena's 4th Swedish single. The single became a big hit there reaching number 5 in the Swedish charts and spending much of its time in the top 10 and it is still charting there. It has sold more than 25,000 copies and certified gold. "Mambo!" was also on Svensktoppen for 9 weeks.

As well as Sweden "Mambo!" is starting to appear in other european countries. In France her video premired in July and is now showing in a few other european countries. In Belgium "Mambo!" peaked at 18; it may not reached the top 10 but has spend a lot of its time in the top 20. "Mambo!" is playing a lot in clubs of Finland and Denmark. However "Mambo!" did not enter the charts when it was released in Switzerland and Austria.

In Russia and Romania these countries do not have offical single sales charts but they do have airplay chart which in these countries count as there charts. In Russia the song peaked at 41 and in Romania the song did well when it peaked at 13 and stayed in the charts for six months.

In Poland "Mambo!" grew very popular and peaked on alot of radio stations at number one. On the offical Polish National Top 50 "Mambo!" peaked at number 6.

In the United Kingdom and Ireland "Mambo!" was planned to be released in September but it has been put back to October. Promos were released to clubs in September and the video is due to make it premire shortly.

VideoClips of Mambo!

The original video for "Mambo!" was released in Greece in February 2006. These video is filmed in Greeklish. In the video Helena is showing of her dancing skills throughout the video. The video has an office theme for most of the video and Helena enters the office and makes everyone in the building dance and have a good time. At the end of the video Helena and dancers dance together in a routine. The video of Helena has been well received in Greece and won 'most played video' in the 2006 MAD TV music awards. Throughout the video there are clips of coca cola.

In Sweden the original video was used but in this video it was all english. In this video there are no coca cola adverts whereas in the Greeklish video filmed for Greece there are.

In May due to Helena starting her international career "Mambo!" got a new video filmed to be aimed at a more global audience. It took only a day to film on a small island in Greece. On the island there is a bar is in the center of the video with lots of people parting and dancing to "Mambo!" Towards the end of the video Helena is seen dancing in a night scene. In early June the video of Helena premiered in France. It has also aired many times in Poland & Romania.

There are rumours saying that Norty Cotto will remix Helena's song, but are yet unconfirmed. Furthermore, Raff and Jam have already finished Radio and Club remixes for "Mambo!".

The complilation called "Dance Mania", where the "Mambo (Dancing Dj Mix) is included, is No 1 in the Uk Charts

Release Date

"Mambo!" has been released in six countries to date: they are Greece, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium. Soon in September "Mambo!" will be released in Poland and United Kingdom. In Poland by Sony BMG and in the U.K by AATW (All Around The World). The single has been released on the 12th April in Switzerland and on the 19th May in Austria by Sony BMG. In the U.S.A & Canada it will be released by Moda Records. There is still no offical date for other countries release.
