It's difficult for many dedicated editors to restrain the impulse to communicate their own feelings about the subject matter, especially if they are personally expert on the topic, but the fact is none of us here are entitled to assert unattributed judgments of excellence, "striking beauty", superiority, "fascinating work", "elegant technique" etc. (or the converse). It doesn't matter that we "know" it's true or that many would agree--we have to either explicitly inline-quote a reliable published source to illustrate the fact that this opinion is professionally supported, or cite such a reference in a footnote, with the specific assertion clearly and directly contained in that specific reference. This is not a conversation among "those who know"--it's a resource for those who potentially, know nothing, and must be built accordingly from the ground up based on published sources, not editors' opinions, however expert they may be.
