Read and comment: [[Talk: Keane (band)#Keane is or Keane are?|''Keane'' talk page]]. |
|||
About the Keane page - Wikipedia's own page on BrE vs. AmE states the following: |
|||
⚫ | |||
In British English (BrE), collective nouns can take either singular (formal agreement) or plural (notional agreement) verb forms, according to whether the emphasis is on the body as a whole or on the individual members respectively; compare ''a committee was appointed'' with ''the committee were unable to agree.''[14][15] Compare also the following lines of Elvis Costello's song "Oliver's Army": Oliver's Army is here to stay / Oliver's Army are on their way . |
|||
This would suggest that in BrE, the usage should be "Keane is" rather than "Keane are," as the focus is clearly on the band and not the members of the band ("Keane is an English rock band from Battle, East Sussex, formed in 1995"). |
|||
Do tell if you disagree with this. |

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Heavengamesforums.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Heavengamesforums.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You really shouldn’t randomly revert edits that go against the consensus of the article. I’m not trying to come down on you but I’ve noticed you’ve reverted several edits that go against that with any real explanation. Please discuss in the talk page before making such edits, it would really help a lot. Thank you. --The Matrix Prime 05:49, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

3RR
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Jedi Exile. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. --EEMeltonIV 18:16, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:IE7XP.png
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:IE7XP.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Wikia
When Wales, Beesley and Penchina are expressing concerns themselves over the situation, that makes it "controversial". Stop vandalising just because you now have epeen issues. Random quote you must have missed in the reference: "I am sad to say that I really did not anticipate this or know anything about the history here." - Jimbo Wales. This is a very controversial acquisition and may yet lead to a law suit or even a class action. Leave the article alone if you are just going to stomp around in there with your POV. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.243.242.194 (talk • contribs)

AfD nomination of Kreia
An editor has nominated Kreia, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kreia and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 03:29, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Prospekt's March EP
Sorry, but:
- MusicBrainz lists it as 'EP'
- Coldplay's official site also lists it as 'EP'
- The back of the album's sleeve lists it as 'EP'
- The fact that "It's what it is, not its name" doesn't mean a thing, since I have -and know- many EPs which don't have an EP on its end on every place you search.

- I had considered that possibility, and I will be reporting him to AIV if this RfC dies unnoticed (which I think will probably happen). ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 17:41, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- The RfC was noticed at the last second, so it will probably be around for some time to come. Would you consider supporting it or at least adding your take, so some action can be taken? ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 23:25, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
My Iron Lung (EP)
Why are you insisting on using a lowercase 'f' in the title 'No Surprises/Running From Demons'? You undid my amendment with the reason 'Nope', if you want to stand up for your edit you need to be more explanative than that. Lopifalko (talk) 08:24, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
- I linked it to this helpful page about capitalisation in titles. Here's another, more specific one. Also note that No Surprises/Running From Demons is a redlink, while No Surprises/Running from Demons isn't, due to the latter having the correct capitalisation. If you want, I'll also find a bunch of instances of the 'from' in tracklists in various album articles, just to give an example of articles that follow the capitalisation guidelines in the MoS. -- I need a name (talk) 13:52, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
- That's news to me, capitalisation rules must have changed since I learned them, thanks for the education and apologies for the hassle. I didn't notice you'd hyperlinked 'Nope', so sorry again for that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lopifalko (talk • contribs) 14:13, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

HardestPart.svg
Hi, could you tell me how File:HardestPart.svg is inaccurate? I'll try and fix it, if I can, because SVG is such a superior format to JPEG. Thanks, Mahahahaneapneap (talk) 17:52, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
- It's been a while since I checked it and concluded it was inaccurate, but IIRC:
- The font along the side is wrong (it should be Albertus)
- The blocks are the wrong shape (they should be square) and colour
- The dashes are the wrong shape and colour (they should be red rectangles)
- I considered fixing it a while ago, but then I figured it would just be easier to use an already existing JPG of the cover, rather than trying to figure out the exact dimensions and stuff for recreating it. -- I need a name (talk) 13:08, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll have a go at fixing it soon. Mahahahaneapneap (talk) 19:43, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

Proof
Can you provide any proof that the White Shadows single cover is not official? All of the other singles in the set have similar images, and the image in question was on a third party website, so I'm loathe to delete the image without proof that it's a hoax. Sven Manguard Wha? 00:18, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
- I posted my reasoning on Talk:White Shadows awhile ago, when the exact same image was used in the article. To expand on that, the colours (red, purple, orange, yellow and green) don't match the other singles. It also doesn't match the promo CDs for the X&Y singles, which have the blocks embossed instead of coloured, like this. There's no CD single release, so it can't be from that. -- I need a name (talk) 19:13, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
