Their confrontational live performances gave the group a notorious reputation, and in 1976 they released their debut recording, The Best of Throbbing Gristle, Vol. 2 in 1976 (see 1976 in music). Their debut LP was 2nd Annual Report (1977 in music), which was pressed in a limited run; it was later re-released due to high demand. After three more albums Throbbing Gristle broke up in 1980 (see 1980 in music, with TG founder Genesis P Orridge going on to form Psychic TV, whilst Cosi Fanny Tuti and Peter Christopherson continued to record together under the name of Chris and Cosi.
