Douglas Earl Comer (or Douglas Comer) is an author and professor best known for his work in the early development of the Internet.

Education and career

Dr Comer holds a BS in Mathematics and Physics from Houghton College earned in 1971 and a PhD in Computer Science from Pennsylvania State University earned in 1976.

Comer came back to Purdue University in August 2009, prior to that he was Vice President of Research for computer networking company Cisco Systems.[1]

He is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and professor of electrical and computer engineering at Purdue University in the US.

Beginning in the late 1970's he started his continuing research into TCP/IP, which has earned him international notoriety in the field of Computer Science and computer networking.
