Hi Hex, sorry to bother you but actually I do think he gets to remove warnings! Sorry. See WP:OWNTALK, especially WP:REMOVED where it says "Users may freely remove comments from their own talk pages, though archiving is preferred. They may also remove some content in archiving. The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user. This specifically includes both registered and unregistered users." and WP:DRC which goes on a bit more about this. Sorry sorry, not trying to pull you up, hope it helps. Re: Oldschool
A lot more of us old timers are around than people might think -- I stumbled across two who predate me the other month -- but we are a dying breed. Unless my mood changes soon, you may outlast me here. -- llywrch (talk) 22:32, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
- One is Rmhermen, who kept beneath my radar for a long time. Another was Theresa Knott, whom I knew was a long-time contributor but until Rmhermen posted on my talk page & I went looking at Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians in order of arrival, I didn't know she's been contributing since August 2001. Both must be in the top 5 of longest tenures who are still active. (Others I knew about include Eclecticology & Evan Prodromou, whom I've met face-to-face, & Slrubenstein & LA2.) -- llywrch (talk) 01:02, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Oooooldness
Thank you very much for the note, which I greatly enjoyed. British: yes, guilty; around a long time (in Wikipedia/internet terms): yup, that too.
I remember quite clearly the day that I "discovered" it: I was looking for information on some plant, flower or something. (Sadly, exactly which bit of flora was stored in some memory which now seems to have been rewritten or disconnected.) It was in the Guardian crossword, in fact: I had the word in, but wanted to check what on earth it was. And suddenly I was looking at something that said (a) it was an encyclopaedia but (b) I could change it! Strange days. And the rest, of course, is history.
I don't do that much here nowadays. At one time, under my previous username, I was really quite active, enthusiastic, and committed. Now I just do bits and pieces, and bitch at people who can't spell "Middlesbrough", and do various other sad OCD-ish things. (See username ... ah yes, you did.)
Excellent to hear from you, take care, all good wishes

What about this one? --George Ho (talk) 00:40, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oh yes! I'd completely forgotten that I made that. I've re-tagged it now. Thanks. -- Hex [t/c] 07:44, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Over-referencing
Wrt your (age-old) comment here, I tried a different formatting but was overturned and I don't have the time or energy to improve Wikipedia against active resistance. Maybe you wanna weigh in. --87.78.237.165 (talk) 19:10, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
I am going to revert your move of Sir Gervase Clifton, 1st Baronet See the talk page talk:Sir Gervase Clifton, 1st Baronet for the reason. -- PBS (talk) 15:06, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

- Hi Trijnstel, thanks for your help. So far it is only here, I have pending rename requests at Meta and Commons. -- Hex [t/c] 18:52, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for September 21
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Robert Percy Smith, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Francis Baring (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Re: Translation
Hi Hex, I've started translating now, if my afternoon goes as planned without any unforeseen catastrophes, I should have it finished by tonight. I'll let you know once it's done. -- Ferkelparade π 11:04, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi again, here's a draft translation (which could probably do with a bit of cleanup from a native English speaker) : User:Ferkelparade/Sandbox. I left the French titles intact and included translations in brackets. I also had to change the style of the article quite a bit as the original Luxembourgish article is written in a very colloquial tone (I guess Luxembourgish just doesn't have a formal register, as it's a language almost exclusively used for everyday spoken communications and never for formal writing). I'm not 100% sure I got the first sentence of the long paragraph correct (the one starting "After marrying the daughter...") - the contents are certainly correct, but I'm not absolutely certain he married the daughter before becoming an artisan...maybe you can find some more detailed sources to clear that up. -- Ferkelparade π 13:56, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure either, but that can be fixed at a later date if necessary. It's now live at Bernard Molitor. You've done a brilliant job, thank you very much! -- Hex [t/c] 16:51, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

10 years - blimey!
Thanks! Good heavens, so it is. I just looked up my first edit - 21/09/2002. That is quite extraordinary. How did you suss me out? I thought it was non-obvious. :) What do I do to accept your kind offer? Cheers DBaK (talk) 13:51, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Comment - aha - we spoke back in Feb, I see now. So did you suss out who I used to be? Not that it was anyone interesting. :) DBaK (talk) 13:55, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- No, I didn't :) Heh.
- Regarding accepting, I'm not really sure, I suppose you could add yourself to Category:Members of the Ten Year Society of Wikipedia editors. I came up with the whole format of the idea in very short order and didn't really intend for it to be much more than a page and a category. (Kind of the WikiWikiWeb way of doing things.)
- Here's to the next ten years, cheers! -- Hex [t/c] 14:01, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

East London, etc
Hi. I know you have had previous interaction on this kind of matter, sorry, but wondered if you might like to have a look at Talk:Petticoat Lane Market please? I am not that bothered about where exactly we say things are, but I am rather concerned by the other user's aggressive attitude, and the fact that if I look at their edit history I see a campaign of moving things around without much discussion. I am not sure whether to try the London project or anything - it seems a bit sleepy! - and I have no stomach for a fight over trivia. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 10:14, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know - I'm investigating now. — Hex (❝?!❞) 08:27, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks very much Hex. I had a little go at the London project too, please see their Talk, but it looks like one might have to poke it with a stick or ring a bell or something and then get told off for waking people up? And believe me I do not want to start a war or upset the other user over this - I'm more baffled than anything, by the evident hostility as much as by the content changes. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 08:46, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Further - thanks for your interventions which I've just seen. Much appreciated. Best wishes DBaK (talk) 09:56, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- You're welcome. The WikiProject does seem a bit snoozy, to be honest! — Hex (❝?!❞) 11:49, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

London / Greater London difference
I just wanted to know why you changed my Londons back to Greater Londons for Crews Hill, Monken Hadley etc.? Nobody can ever seem to give a difference between London and Greater London because they have the exact same population, and cover the exact same area, which leads me to believe they are the same thing, even though sometimes you hear news etc. say "London and Greater London" which doesn't seem to make any sense? Even on your profile you put Greater London - London - South London?! Justgravy (talk) 13:47, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Because you didn't produce any citations for the changes. You need to read your talk page. — Hex (❝?!❞) 13:55, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Okay but I am asking you if you think there is any difference between London and Greater London? Justgravy (talk) 14:21, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- What I think isn't of relevance here. — Hex (❝?!❞) 14:55, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- But if there is no difference between London and Greater London then any cited source that says an area is in Greater London is also saying that it is in London and therefore it is okay for me to change Greater Londons to Londons! Justgravy (talk) 18:27, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- I did not say whether there there is or isn't and I am not going to discuss it. This is not about facts. This is about your disruptive behavior and the instructions that you have been given. You have two choices: you can cite your changes with reliable sources, or you can get blocked from editing. Keep bothering me here about it and that will earn you a block as well. This conversation is over. — Hex (❝?!❞) 18:33, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
