Welcome!

Hello, RTO Trainer, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Karmafist 15:59, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy

Heya RTO Trainer, I saw your discussion bit in the National Guard talk page, and I added in a heading above it to seperate it from my question about the Texas Air National Guard (this way people will be able to see your comment in the table of contents on the top of the talk page).

To make headings like that when you post new topics in the talk pages (or when breakign up an article into different sections), just type in ==New Topic Title Here== and it will come out looking like this:

New Topic Title Here

Anyhow, feel free to comment back if you want, and if you want to change the paragraph you talked about (assuming it hasn't been changed already) you can go ahead and do it yourself in the article, and there won't be any problem (if someone doesn't like it, they'll either change it again or reply to your comment on the talk page for the article).

Adios, and see you around.--Raguleader 06:27, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:180CAVdui.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 08:09, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:45BSTBdui.png

Thanks for uploading File:45BSTBdui.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 14:07, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

152d Cavalry article

I wanted to confirm the accuracy your edit to the 152d Cavalry article that "The 180th is the only US Army Regiment that has a motto in a Native American language." I'm not anywhere close to an expert on this sort of thing. But, I think the motto of the 147th Infantry "Cargoneek Guyoxim" is in Chippewa, the 180th Infantry's "TANAP-NANAIYKIA-ALTHAIYAHA" is Cherokee, the 348th Infantry's "AnLI yamojmikma KAMASSA" is Choctaw, the 377th Infantry's "NI GA DA E SA SDI" is Cherokee, the 390th's "KA-YEN-SĀ-HAH" is Iroquois, and the 506th's famous "Currahee" is Cherokee. 45th Brigade Special Troops Battalion

Hello, and welcome. Your addition to 45th Brigade Special Troops Battalion has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source if public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to visit me at my talk page . Thank you. --Mrmatiko (talk) 17:38, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

After going through your contributions it is clear that there are several copyright violations. It would be helpful if you removed all information that you have ever copied directly from a source from every article you have created/edited. I will attempt to remove any that I find throughout your contribution history but this would be much easier with your assistance as I don't wish to open a Contributor Copyright Investigation. --Mrmatiko (talk) 18:25, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are mistaken. Text material from the Army's Institute of Heraldry is public domain, and the articles have referenced that. Similarly, if the descriptions of the insignia were copyrighted, as you suggest, the insignia themselves are also copyrighted, but may be used for other than commercial purposes.TIOH Image Use Policy The descriptions (blazons) must be quoted in full in order to be correct. RTO Trainer (talk) 09:06, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

90 TC

The reason I linked the two articles was that the tiny kernel of information we have on the 90th Inf Bde is all at the 90th TC article - it seems you inserted it yourself. How would you justify *not* linking the articles when the information is accessible about the brigade thru the link - Army lineage policies or no? Buckshot06 (talk) 23:41, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The sentence is only about the justification for designating the TC as 90th, a reference, not a lineage. I'll work out a better phrasing to clarify that there's no direct connection. RTO Trainer (talk) 00:50, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:158thFADUI.png

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:158thFADUI.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Bulwersator (talk) 10:16, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:1158thFADUI.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
