Rachcha (Template:Lang-te; Alternative spelling: Racha) is a 2012 Telugu film written and directed by Sampath Nandi. The film is produced by R. B. Choudary under his Megaa Super Good Films banner. The film stars Ram Charan Teja and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles.[8] The film was released in India on 5 April 2012 and now holds a record as the best opening movie in the Telugu film industry. The film was also dubbed into Tamil as Ragalai and Malayalam as Raksha, opened with good reviews.[9] The film was promoted as a 'mass masala entertainer'.

Cast

Plot

'Betting' Raj (Ram Charan) is a local happy-go-lucky guy who makes his living by accepting challenges for money. He lives along with his adopted parents (M. S. Narayana and Sudha) who enjoys his life taking risks and making money out of it. Tragedy strikes the family in the form of a medical emergency and Raj needs 20 lakhs to save his father. As he is on the lookout for money, he is approached by James (Ajmal), whom he has already met an earlier competition, with a challenge. James dares Raj to make Chaitra (Tamannaah Bhatia) fall in love, the daughter of powerful mining Don Bellary (Mukesh Rishi). A desperate Raj takes up the challenge and begins wooing Chaitra. As time goes by, Chaitra too reciprocates the love and Raj wins his bet. But as it turns out, Chaitra has a secret and Raj has a flashback that he is not aware of. As the story begins to unfold, Raj realizes that he has a mission to fulfill and a promise to keep. Chaitra was revealed to the childhood friend of Raj. Raj's and Chaitra's parents are killed by Bellary for her property. The rest of the story is about how the truth is revealed to them and how the villon is killed and the promised of giving the lands to poor is fulfilled.

Production

The film was launched formally on 12 June 2011 with Chiranjeevi sounding the clapboard.[8][12] Furthermore Ajmal Ameer plays the antagonist alongside Mukesh Rishi & Kota Srinivas Rao.[13] The unit shot a song in Sri Lanka.[13] Mani Sharma has been roped in as the music director. The overseas rights were procured by Hari Venkateswara Pictures for 2.75 crore.

Release

This film is released in 1600 UFO prints in 2,400 theaters World wide in on 5 April 2012 and in Tamil on 6 April 2012. [citation needed]The complete movie has been set up with photon HD+ camera used first time in India.

Released

The movie has opened with 'super hit' talk from the first show considering it's commercial elements and collected a netted collection of 10 crore (US$1.2 million) in AP during the first week. The overseas collections is recorded to be close to 7 crore (US$810,000) for the Telugu version.[14] The film was declared a commercial hit. Sify says the movie is "A Paisa Vasool Movie".[15] OneIndia says "Don't miss the movie".[16] TeluguOne says "Racha is a potpourri and Mega Fans will be fully satisfied." [17]CineCorn says "Racha is a mass entertainer. Watch it because it’s an entertaining commercial mass film in a long time".[18] 123Telugu says "The film has all the commercial elements required for a good run at B and C centers.Racha is decent one time summer watch".[19] Times of India says "When you beat up a hundred guys in just your second flick, it sort of becomes hard to keep bettering that film after film." and marked 3 out of 5 stars.[20] The Hindu says "A mass entertainer targeted at fans. Go without expectations and you will be entertained.".[21]

Soundtrack

The soundtrack of the film was composed by Mani Sharma, which happens to be his second film with Ram Charan after 2007 film Chirutha. The soundtrack album was released on 11 March 2012 at People's Plaza in Hyderabad.[22]
