'''In Partnership with the National Trust'''

From 2006 to 2008 the house was the home of Lord Andrew Battenberg, Earl of Leitrim and Mr Alistair Kerr. The house had fallen into disrepair since being taken over by the National Trust. The Trust required Lord Leitrim and Mr Kerr to undertake and pay for the substantial restoration of the house and garden. The cost of the work is believed to have been nearly £500000. Finally when the work was finished the story featured in Lincolnshire Life.

Both Lord Leitrim and Mr Kerr were very interest in increasing public access to the property. Not only were the gardens available but also the downstairs of the house for the first time. Lord Leitrim also encouraged the use of the property as part of the community of Grantham again. An example was the return of the St Wulframs choir to sing carols in the courtyard at Christmas a great success the event reported in the Grantham Journal 'A return of tradition'.

During the tenure of Lord Leitrim and Mr Kerr the property was used to assist local charities such as Gifts Hospice, Red Cross, British Heritage, the national Trust to name a few. The property was also made available to various groups to tour outside normal opening hours.

Lord Battenberg's mother died at Grantham House in 2006 and her ashers were buried in the wall garden. Mrs Lee's death is the first recorded death at the property with her ancestry being traced back to the Custs one time owners of Grantham House.
