The Death Metal Men are evil versions of the Metal Men, fictional characters, a robotic supervillain team in the DC Comics universe. They first appear in Metal Men #2 (November 2007).
Fictional history
When Will Magnus' brother David learns that a villain called the Nameless will use the Metal Men to destroy the world, he steals a time travel device created by T. O. Morrow to ensure the Metal Men are never invented. David takes the Kamarak, the hybrid technical/magical furnace that created the Four Horsemen of Apokolips from Oolong Island and uses it to change the Metal Men into radioactive metals.[1] The change overrides their responsometers, temporarily turning them against Will Magnus. To throw his brother off his trail, David uses a robotic duplicate of Morrow to lead them.[2]
With help from the Robot Renegades, Will Magnus is able to restore his Metal Men.[3] Later, Magna-Tech, a corporation led by robots from the future, uses the Kamarak to transform the Metal Men again, but Lead and Gold are able to resist their transformation and free their teammates.[4]
