Trailer trash (or trailer park trash) is a derogatory North American English term for poor people,[1] often also carrying connotations of lacking proper etiquette and being unintelligent. The term originates from the fact that such people often reside in trailers or mobile homes, especially in trailer parks.
Television
The Canadian television series Trailer Park Boys is an ironic and humorous example of so-called trailer park trash. Done in mockumentary style, the show documents the misadventures of the residents of the Sunnyvale Trailer Park. See: Donald Wilson, Steven Krier, Anthony Schnieder.
The Rockford Files television series also featured a trailer owned by Jim Rockford (played by James Garner).
Art
The latest concept to come from the minds of Joshua Levi and Trevor Topfer, 'Trailer Trash' showcases live art, by a number of young and emerging Queensland (Australia) based and International artists.[2] The artists will use various techniques to paint dilapidated caravans; turning the unappealing into the appealing and engaging in the spirit of what we call 'the trash generation'.
Live music is also a big highlight, with Jackson Jackson and Sampology supporting the first event, to demonstrate the shrinking divide between the music and art industries.
Music
The song "Trailer Trash" appears on Modest Mouse's 1997 album The Lonesome Crowded West.
